Seagull Pilatus Porter

Just a shot to tempt you with the latest Seagull aircraft. A 63" span Pilatus Porter. Suitable for IC or electric. This is pre-production and I've fitted it with a 700kVa motor, 4S and a 14 X 7 prop.

I like the color scheme on this one a heck of a lot better than the one I am working on. Thanks for sharing.

I don't know how long before being on sale but I can't imagine too long.

No it doesn't have flaps but other than as something of a novelty it doesn't really need them.

I've had several flights and with my set up 700kVa motor, Jeti Spinn 44 ESC, 14 X 7 APC 'E' and 4S 4250 Hyperion pack flight is great. I'm pulling a tad over 35 amps and so have just around 500 watts. Climb out is strong and very positive easy flight on just aileron, elevator. The rudder is very powerful and ground handling is superb.

How do you get the battery in and out of the Mew Gull? I just ordered one but would be available till early may. I would like to see how you get the battery in/out.

Brian,
Why not ask the guys who have a Mew Gull in the extensive thread?

Hey Dave,

I have just picked up the Porter. Question? With your set up what are the times of your flights roughly?

Thinking about going electric on this one as I really like the shape and details of the porter.

I have had a number of electrics before but not beyond 3s.

Phil,
With mine using the set up described I comfortably fly to 8 minutes but could, I feel, stretch to 10 with capacity in hand. I am a consertvative throttle user though.

Photo should show my conversion to spung UC which will be detailed in the next issue of RCMNews issue 103

Well, not much to say other than that the sprung system works well and does help, I believe, in improving landings. I have no doubt that some tinkering with spring rates and damping sets could optimise it but other than that I'm pretty happy.

I will state though that I'm a built in fiddler (can't help it!) and I should point out that the model does fly perfectly well as is but just a little bouncy on landing if you are not aware.

Sorry, I have no idea what they will do in the US but know it is being promoted both here in Oz and saw it recently in RCM&E magazine in the UK so suggest it's on the way generally.
