ZAGI batteries. I want to make my own, Does anybody know how?

I was wondering if i bought 9 sub c 2700 nimh batteries if i could make my own pack. I dont know what the volts are but i think they are aound 1.5 volt per battery. So if i had 9 of them it be around 9.6 volts for the speed 400 motor. If i soder them side by side i might be able to build a really AWESOME battery. This would be a 2700 NIMH battery, Thats 1000 MaH longer then the Big 8 cell battery that zagi cells. So does any body know if i could make my own battery using nine sub c 2700 nimh cells? Also does anybody know the height and weight of these size cells. I thought these were about the same size of the zagi sanyo cells.

Thanks

you will need to soder the batterys togeather. Pos to neg. I'd use eight, for a total of 9.6 volts, as the batterys are rated for 1.2 volts each. check on the overal weight though. Good luck.

Yes, but it would be too heavy for your Zagi and make it fly like a brick.

Small storage cells are 1.2 volts each. 9x1.2=10.8 volts.

TRy it and see how it works.

Probably if you know your way around a 40 watt soldering iron. See the FAQ for information on building packs such as you describe.

Sub-Cs are 1.690 in height and .910 in diameter. They weigh 2.2oz for NiMh and 2.09oz for many Nicads. Batteries that are normally used in Zagis are "A" and "AA"-sized.

Are nicads less heavy compared to nihm batteries? What do you think about 8 1800 nicad sub c cells? Would they work better?

Forget the Sub-Cs for a Zagi. 8x"A"-sized packs at the most. K?

try 1400 ae nicad 32 grams each same as 800 ar 9 should work equal to 8 * 800 ars for voltage recharge 2c

also 1700 au use 10 to keep amps below 5 amps or use short bursts of power internal resistance relitivly high max amps recommended 10 amps weight 35 grams
have used these types suycessfully on s400 for long flights recharge below 2c

theses battery add very litle weight to increase flying time power density in excess of 40 to 1

sub c power density 30 to 35 to 1 generally regire two s400 engines to lift up and larger wing surface such as graupners new twin jet foamy would work well on 8 or 10 sub c nicads and pobably ok on 10 nimh

large battery packs also start to remove bounce factor in foamies and repair time and cost starts to kick in

s400 have fun world wide
hope this helps
