I can remember being 40. Just. So at least the long term memory is still working even if everything else is creaking. Unlike you Gossie I'm not a pre-war baby, in fact Adolf Hitler was directly responsible for me being here. How? Well, in the UK in 1940 with the country's back well and truly against the wall, a government edict was issued to the effect that all married women who did not have children under the age of five would be expected to do war work to free up men for the forces. The younger of my two sisters was eight at the time and to my father, an unreconstructed Northerner, a married woman going out to work was tantamount to admitting that her husband couldn't support his family, so it wasn't going to happen, government decree or not. So I arrived in July 1941! So it is all Adolf's fault for invading Poland.

52, and feeling every year of it right now. I don't like cold weather, and it's sleeting here on the Gulf Coast today...

My Dad was a Sapper, doing minefield clearing and bomb disposal with the South African army in North Africa. In January 1943, the guys were given a few monthsí leave to return home for a bit of R&R. Dad took the opportunity to marry my Mom, in the last week of January 1943. I was born 9 months and 2 days later. (Dad didnít see me - his firstborn - until the end of the war, when I was two years old.)

Just turned 60 a month ago. Started flying free flight (Sterling and Scientific) at around 8, control line shortly thereafter, and R/C at 17 -- aside from a three year break for college (dropped out), haven't stopped since then.
