Hi, Irun

the delight is supposed to be driven by a separate channel ( aboard a 133% Wayfarer - The RCM vintage plan ! - )

I had tried almost all the files posted in this thread, just for learning !

I see your file is different from the previous " cessna 400" ... so, I give it a try !
looks to work fine !

in yours no pattern lasts more than 2.50s ...
so, could it be the issue for my program, as Ch 3 and 4 last 3.8s ?

Thanks for your Help
Alain

Hi, Irun

Issue was solved more than a year ago by building my own 8 channels light controller around a PIC 16F1825 ... each output able to drive 4 Amps ( w/ IRLU 8256, TO 251 / IPak Case ) ....
one version also drives the electric gear for my Robbe twinair ( also called Aerosky B60 Duke ... ) : the gear switch has 3 pos :

1) parking : cabin lights ON other lights OFF - gear down
2) take off : cabin OFF, landing lights ON, other lights ON, gear Down
3) Flight : Landing Lights OFF, same as previous for other lights, but gear UP

BTW, in flight, if Receiver voltage goes low ... it lock gear down and switch Landing lights ON ...

the only drawback is .... components are all " thru hole " ...
but no issue with the 3 desync. strobes and 2 desync. Beacons ...

For the Delight ... Halas, the issue is confirmed, moreover, the problem also occurs with another light controller ...
I continue to try to find what's wrong in that kind of program ...

Alain

PS: mail sent to the DE support board ... wait and see if someone there ...

The end of the story ...

from DE Technical :

Quote:
That is indeed an issue with the older controllers- certain sequences can time-out after anything longer than about 10 minutes. We have a firmware fix available that should solve the issue you’re having. You will need to send the Controllers back to us for the update. If you want to do this, let me know and I will get you an RMA number for return.
I think I'll have to send my controllers overseas ... 25$ to add to the bill !!!

The end of the story ... bis.

my four modules are back from the US ... working fine now,

the only point that has not being solved is a strange HUGE current spike ( some Ás @ power up ) that is able to reset my 16F628 signal generator ( Brownout enabled ) powered by a strong 3 Ah Nicad Pack ...

This " feature " must be seriously taken into account if the delight was to be powered on through the R/C system ...
a receiver resetting would be to happend with all the disasters one can imagine.

The documentation for this is lacking I think? Does the power for the unit come form the Rx wire? Where are you supposed to hook up the power?

Yes, the DElight is powered from the servo lead on the controller that plugs into your receiver. Power is the first thing discussed in the manual here...

I need to run a separate bec and that particular function is a little gray. It just states that I may need to. Do I just split the power and ground out of the connector and use the signal wire only to the rx?

Yes, that should work fine. You can use a servo Y-harness if you want to split that and modify the harness instead of altering the DElight servo lead.

Hi,

No problem for using a separate supply ; just make like for the controllers take the red wire connector out of the Rx plug and connect it to your separate supply "+"
of course, the GND wires have to be tied together

for this I used a small 1200 mAh 2S LiPO Batt and a small 2$ Ebay adjustable 2A Buck converter http://www.dx.com/p/mini-dc-dc-volta...ule-red-126106 to get 4 to 5v ( for DeLight and series resistors not to dissipate as much or more than the leds ... )

Ok, new question. I see that the max voltage for this is a little over 7v. What happens if I try to run 12v through it?

Probably the same as if you tried to put 70% more gas in your car . . . . smoke and flames. . .

for 2$, you get a 12v > 5v @ 2-3A "LM 2596S" buck converter on Ebay ...
for 10$ ... you get the 10 Amps model !!!

but remember Delight shows limited current outputs ...

Ahhh yes ??? That was your next question : " may I use 12v 20 W Led chips with the Delight ??? "

the answer is NO !!!

No it wasn't. I have a variety of voltage options on board to feed this thing. Most of the leds I have don't light up worth a crap until they get around 12v though.
