Dave-I've been following your X-30 since way back during the Rocket Challenge days and the Bell X-2 for several years now; both rank as BIG personal favorites.

Needless to say, if you ever need a place to retire your stunning Bell X-2, please consider donating it to the Air Force Test Center Museum at Edwards Air Force Base. Just throwing that out there since your X-2 would be the only "flying" example returning to Edwards since the loss of the real X-2 on September 27, 1956. As you may know, parts from the crash site are in the museum's collection and would be a part of the display.

My hope is create a dedicated Bell X-2 project display to honor that incredible team. Some of Iven Kincheloe's personal items were donated by his widow and are on display now.

Thanks for creating these amazing models!

All the best,
Tony

Tony,

Thatís an interesting idea. Part of my motivation for building the X-2 was to honor the memory of those individuals who sacrificed so much to part of the Starbuster program.
PM me with some contact information and letís consider the options here.

FYI, the X-30 still lives and is in a hangar at the Caddo Mills Airport in Texas.

It looks like on September 21st the X-2 will be moving to itís new home at the Flight Test Museum at Edwards AFB.
If you are in that area, and would like to see the X-2 it will be on display.
For those in Texas who would like to see it before it moves out of town, it will be on display at RC Hobbies in Richardson through the end of the month.
I would like to thank Tony ďa.k.a. xplaneguyĒ for his help making this happen.

On September 21st a small group of us from North Texas had an incredible day delivering the X-2 to Edwards AFB.
Our day started at the museum, where I held a flight suit that was worn by Pete Everest and Mel Apt almost 6 decades ago.
Next we went over to the run-up pad where the real Starbuster had fired its rocket engines during the ground tests before each flight.
The old blockhouse used by the engineers is still there.
We assembled my model and placed it on the pad. It was quite a sight seeing my handiwork sitting in the sun just like the real one did over 59 years ago!
From there we got stand on the foundation of the Bell X plane hangar. The wooden hangar was burned down. A lot of history took place there!
Our next stop was the sites where the X-1s and X-2 were loaded onto their drop aircraft.
We got to stand in the very pit that Chuck Yeagerís X-1 was loaded onto the B-29 for his historic flight.
After lunch, we went back to the museum to put my X-2 on display.
It currently sits with good company between the X-4 and the M2-F1 lifting body.
The rest of the day, we had a great time touring other sites on base.
Edwards is a fascinating place.
Itís very humbling to think of all those great Americans who sacrificed so much to keep our county strong and safe. I am honored to have my model help preserve their memory.
I want to thank George Welsh, Tony Accurso and all the staff at the Edwards Flight Test Museum for their most gracious hospitality.

Dave

That's great Dave, glad it found a good home that will be seen and appreciated by a lot of folks.
That second flight was beautiful, great video.

That is so cool. Your model looks perfect and looks like the real think in the outdoor photos. What's next? Hard to top this!

A well deserved recognition of a fantastic model.

Even better that it is placed where people will get to see it for many years to come.

The Tripoli Rocketry Association has announced the dates for Balls 25 this year.
It will be on September 23-25.
I like the photo they selected for the icon to get more information.

Excellent great project very nice work. I'm always amazed
at the thing's some modelers build.
Getting ready to move and was going tru some of my old
rocket stuff and thought I'd look in this section .
Back in late 60's while in college I built some rocket powered
models 36" size not coping the X-1 I designed my own Made
several X-1 's some used 2 D and 2 C engines - a couple were
Freon Powered all dropped from another like yours they had
spring down landing gear. a swing wing version then a larger
swept wing version which ended up being EDF powered.
