Looking for a Deg of rotation circuit.

I am looking for a circuit that when i turn a pot it will display how many deg of rotaion i have turned the pot.

Need more details on what you are trying to do. With a linear pot it is pretty trivial, just connect it as a voltage divider and read the voltage.

I want to use it to tell me how many deg of timming one of my armatures has in it.

I don't understand the reason for a pot. If you are talking about static timing, you just measure with a protractor, or measure the diameter and calculate the degrees from displacement along the diameter. That will be more accurate than a pot, especially a non-precision pot.

If you want to use a pot, make sure it has a linear taper, preferably a precision pot. Then either measure the resistance or connect it as a voltage divider and measure the voltage. Either will be directly proportional to the rotation of the pot.

To do this correctly, you really need a shaft angle encoder to have any degree of reproducability.

do they have any really small encoders. the arm shaft is only 2mm.
