Happy New Year!

Here's a video, mostly captured with Mobius + SSG combo. Some are stabilized and slowed. Some raw...

Cali Road Trip (3 min 40 sec)

I just updated my KK2 to FW 1.6++ Rev 3, which should smooth out the jitters significantly. More to follow.

Recently updated my KK2's firmware with RC911's 1.6++ REV 3.

This reduced the SSG's servo jitter:

Improved Video with new RC911's KK2 FW 1.6++ REV 3 - Mobius + SSG (5 min 30 sec)

Compare:

Presidio Lawn - Youtube Edit (2 min 2 sec)

I need to reduce PI gains a bit...Overall, I'm really happy with the results.

I got SSG working with a crius aiop (v1.1), running mpng v3.0.1 r3. it's easy to mod the code of ArduCopter and MegaPirateNG to enable mixing.

The file you should change is:
Code:
AP_Mount.cpp
in
Code:
void AP_Mount::update_mount_position():
replace:
Code:
// write the results to the servos
    move_servo(_roll_idx, _roll_angle*10, _roll_angle_min*0.1, _roll_angle_max*0.1);
    move_servo(_tilt_idx, _tilt_angle*10, _tilt_angle_min*0.1, _tilt_angle_max*0.1);
    move_servo(_pan_idx,  _pan_angle*10,  _pan_angle_min*0.1,  _pan_angle_max*0.1);
with:
Code:
// write the results to the servos
    move_servo(_roll_idx, (_tilt_angle+_roll_angle)*10, _roll_angle_min*0.1f, _roll_angle_max*0.1f);
    move_servo(_tilt_idx, (_tilt_angle-_roll_angle)*10, _tilt_angle_min*0.1f, _tilt_angle_max*0.1f);
    move_servo(_pan_idx,  _pan_angle*10,  _pan_angle_min*0.1f,  _pan_angle_max*0.1f);

I got this code running now and works flawlessly!

Thanks a lot!!! Just made a feature request for this to be included in the main code on apm forum, and now I stumbled upon your post. Will try this out on my apm, as soon as I have replaced the servo that I just (grrr) broke.

question: what, if any, protection are you guys using for your gopro on the SSG mount? I tried mounting the gopro with the skeleton case, but it was just too much weight for my SSG servos & design. I also don't really feel comfortable flying my GP naked on the SSG, so I'm looking for ideas on how to protect it well but as lightweight as possible.

You could cover the lens with a strap. Then I used strong packing foam cut to shape. Zipties. Very light and customizable, but not waterproof.

got mine working in no time its awsome, its a bit jittery though somtimes so might have to look at the new servos im using which are turnigy metal gear cheapos from hk. ive suffered a lot from very bad vibrations which i narrowed down to the elastic bands i used to hold the mobius down. Now i have a tiewrap tightly holding the mobius onto a bed of hard foam stuff and its cured the bad vibes.

Rapstraps might be better than just zip ties... I got mine from eBay shipped from the UK... search "rapstrap"

I'm also curious about using the KK 2.1 board. I flashed mine with Steveis latest firmware and I noticed a camera stab menu item. Is it just plug in two servos and away you go? I don't have the equipment on hand to try it out at the moment.
