Red looks nice. Saw on Tower Hobbies that it's been discontinued. That's sad.
What size battery are you using?

I've used both 3s and 4s. 3s is very relaxing. 4s if I want to speed things up. I have used from 3,200 mAh to 5,000 mAh. Both are very easy to balance since there is room in the fuselage to slide it forward or back. I usually slide it almost all the way back.

The color and size make it easy to see. The weight makes it reasonably stable in wind up to about 10 mph. I've flown it in higher winds (about 15 mph) but it is much less relaxing. I'm sure better pilots could do fine in 15 mph wind, but I'm a mediocre pilot and I prefer relaxation rather than anxiety.

I hope you have fun.
Tom

Hi Soren,

Great job and looks cool.

Motor - should it not be inside the fuz? Any reason why you've changed it?

This is a real workhorse. You'll have many many hours of pure fun.

Cheers

The motor is running just about what it can take before it smokes.
So we go for max cooling.

Cheers

Congratulations Soren. It's a great feeling when maiden goes (too) well.

Sad to hear that the Mentor is discontinued... Good thing I stocked up on a few kits

Mentor on floats has been my #1 FPV plane. It's such an efficient frame that even with floats & FPV gear, I've made ~20km round trips on a 5000mAh 3s pack.

Wholy smokes!!! I'm running the stock power system on 3s and 11x5.5 prop. And I think she has decent power with that...

After using el chepo motors for a long time, last week I decided to treat my Mentor with a EF Power 25 motor. Can't wait to fly her again.

A truly relaxed flying workhorse

Cheers
