Help!
1/4 scale deck/cockpit fittings

I'm scratch building a 1/4 scale (59") mahogany speedboat from "real" Clark Craft plans. Does anyone know where I can find 1/4 scale chrome or stainless deck and cockpit fittings (cleats, lights, bow and stern flags, hatch hinges, steering wheel, lift rings, etc)?

Thanks in advance!

http://www.sgcraft.com/ mentions some...

Otherwise, you may be on your own. The boat looks glorious, so I'm sure if you put your mind to it, you could concoct some fittings of your own!

They don't have to be metal, though I've seen some marvelous hand-whittled (literally!) metal fittings before... Kmot has been experimenting with a chrome paint which seems to really do the trick... so if you can make masters of parts and pour them in resin, they can be made to look like metal.

Thank, Pat. I had actually checked out SG Craft, great stuff but ain't cheap! Hoping not to have to build them myself, so maybe I'll keep looking.

Thanks again!

Good luck, post if you find anyone-- this is not an area that supports many businesses, and any that are there will not be cheap.

<Soapbox> Always plan your build before commencing! Hulls are not easy to build, but still, many put the time in and end up with a beautiful piece of woodwork... only to stop there when they find that fitting out and/or powering the boat is a job just out of reach. </soapbox>

So seriously, consider making them! In the pictures below, the fittings were all handmade, or made with the simplest machine tools (drill press...).

Pat -

Great stuff, thanks. I may end up a metal worker by the time I'm done.

scale fittings

Thanks Bob - these look great! Would love to find some flag fittings with nav lights incorporated, then it's on to the cockpit and running gear.
