Batt. will not bal. charge

I have a 3300 3cell that will not bal.charge .I have checked the leads going into the batt. they are all soldered in.The batt. has one cycle on it.There is a small dent on the batt. n the side near the top .Yep I dropped it .Not bad though .Could this small ding cause this .?Although all the leads are intact.

Are you able to measure the voltages of each cell?

the pack overall measures 12.54 volts.
I think I am getting somewhere around 4.14 on average on each cell. If,I am doing it the right way..

A 3S LiPoly at 12.54 is already charged. Some chargers will charge most new LiPolys to 12.60 (4.2 per cell ) however some charger stop short of this and cells settle . drop a bit as soon as charging stops.

Let me clarify. It won't bal. charge even after I flew it down to the cutoff voltage.I also charged it again, and discharged it and then tried to bal. charge it.And it would not take a bal. charge.

The voltages above were after I had fully charged it.

Will not balance charge as in the balancing chargers does not see the battery?

Most balancing chargers require that both the balancing leads and the main leads be connected. Many seem to thing that only the balancing leads need to be connected since this is how many of the E flite chargers and some of the FMA chargers work.

I have 2 E-Station chargers one with a built in bal. and the other one with a Hyperion bal. adapt.I have both leads hooked up.
I must be a broken wire that is not visible, since they are all soldered in.

So you did not measure each cell you merely guessed as in took the toal and divdied by 3.

Everyone who fly electrics needs a DVM and a watter meter and they need to use them.

I have no idea how you can not do a balance charge with a balancing charger if the balancing leads are not connected and working. Any decent charger would detect wrong cell count / voltage and not charge at all under that situation..

It detects a wrong cell count with both leads hooked up..when bal. ,,but it will take a normal charge..

So you still need to measure the voltage of each cell. If a balancing lead is loose inside the battery it could cause a short and that could cause a fire. You are also giving up the primary safety fracture of a balancing charge as well as perhaps damaging your Li Ploys
