FMS 1400/1450 P-51 Marie

I'm helping a friend get his aircraft collection "operational" and need some guidance. He bought these from a friend (estate sale) and they don't have a clue what it is. I brought the FMS P-51 home with me thinking it would be easy enough to identify the model and version so we could get the right prop/spinner assembly for it. WRONG! I had no idea there were so many "similar" versions. Below is what I do know:
  • FMS P-51 Mustang "Marie" (yellow tail and cowling)
  • 57" wingspan
  • 4250-500KV FMS Motor
  • AirIntake Scoop on belly is NOT open and I think the latter models have an opening to allow air in to cool etc.

It's missing the propeller assembly completely and I'd like to get this bird in the air again. How can I identify the "Version" and then where can I get the components for the prop to get it going again?

If need be I can easily take pics of it just let me know what you need pics of and what angle needed to make a proper identification.

Thanks in advance,
Allen

Since it has a retractable tail-wheel I assume it's at least V6. How can I identify V6 vs V7+?

Ya thats a V6, cant get parts for it anymore. The New V7 they redid the whole plane. The wing attaches different . When you attach the wing its one piece instead of the old plug in wings. The only thing I think that still might work is the prop and spinner but thats it.

I've ordered a Spinner and Prop Assembly (both V7) from your suggestions above. If they don't work I may have to back up, punt, and go for something less "stock" looking.

Is there a difference in V7 and V8 props/spinners?

FoDF thank you so much for your time and input. It's greatly appreciated.

You may wish to the folks at motion rc, they may be able to find the parts you need, they helped me out. Anytime I have sent them an e-mail they have responded within a day. Also the folks at Diamond have the same great customer service

Thank you Eli. That's where I went first and even though they couldn't answer the question specifically they were able to give me some advice etc.

I ended up ordering the V7 parts from them just now. Diamond was showing Out Of Stock as I checked them too.

It appears this motor (4250-500KV) has a lot of Right Thrust built into the way it's mounted. Is this normal for this aircraft?

Excellent. Now I can't wait for the new prop & spinner to arrive so we can take it for a spin.

If it flies as good as I've seen in some of the older videos I may have to purchase one of the newer versions for my own hanger.

THANK YOU!
Allen
