Flashing always automatically erases the chip before writing.

I have a Red Brick 50A ESC which I am trying to flash with SimonK using the KKmulticopter flash tool. I have it all connected up but get the following error:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
avrdude.exe: warning: cannot set sck period. please check for usbasp firmware update.
avrdude.exe: AVR device initialized and ready to accept instructions

Reading | ################################################## | 100% -0.00s

avrdude.exe: Device signature = 0x1e9205
avrdude.exe: Expected signature for ATmega8 is 1E 93 07
Double check chip, or use -F to override this check.

avrdude.exe done. Thank you.

Error during writing flash.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think this is saying that the ESC has an ATMega48 chip and it was expecting a ATMega8 chip. Should I override with -F (if so how do you do this). Or is there another firmware for the ATMega48 chip available?

Cheers
Ross

My recollection is that there are some significant differences between an Atmega48 and Atmega8... and those would prevent Atmega8 code running on it.

There has been discussion in this thread on changes to support Atmega48... and Simon may have incorporated them... probably best to ask Simon directly.

Thanks Owen,
I'll ask Simon on the GitHub development site.

SimonK with UART interface on "HK-Mystery 20A"

Hello everybody -

I'm trying to compile the current version of SimonK sources with UART enabled (bs_nfet for "HK-Mystery 20A"). After powering the controller up, the motor gives only one beep, the ESC does not react on UART commands.

Can someone help me to get UART running with the following setup:

ESC: HK-Mystery 20A
Baud: 11500

Cheers,
Oliver
