I just ordered a f16 jet pusher. It comes with a 380 motor, I would like to order a brushless motor of equal or larger size. I'm new to electrics and I don't have a clue where to start. Can some PLEASE give me a place to start?

This F-16 is an entry-level electric powered jet scale model park flyer. The

Your power system should be pretty light--I agree with the 1000 mah 2 or 3 cell lipo. The heaviest component is the battery and you'll base everything else around that. In most cases speed controllers aren't particular to the type of motor unless you're into super high power stuff, which clearly isn't the case here.

I think you could break the motor/speed controller into 2 categories: cheap and not cheap but good quality. There are endless cheap models on the market that I don't know tons about and probably wont. On the other hand, Castle Creation speed controllers are very well known and would be a good investment--Phoenix 10, Phoenix 25, Thunderbird 9 or Thunderbird 18.

One excellent quality motor would be a Little Screamer. They're about 25 grams and would be perfect for your plane--plus tons of power and run efficiently. There are 3 kv ratings (low, med and high RPM--don't know exact #'s) but you'll probably want the middle or upper one to use with that 6 x 4 prop.
