Finally... the Fancy Foam MX3 by RJ Gritter!

Hey guys,

I have some exciting news! After several years of flying and improving on the original MX2, I am proud to announce the release of the Fancy Foam MX3! This is the culmination of years of learning and tweaking and is guaranteed to be your new favorite. I just finished building the production prototype and have put a few flights on it... This is a sweet airplane!

These are available now from Fancy Foam here.

Check it out!

RJ

A bit more info...

I planned to use my normal Hacker A10-9L + 2S 325mAh setup on this airplane, but it came out so light once framed up that I decided to go for an ultra-lightweight setup for flying around the lobby at school. Here's my setup:
Hacker A10-12S
Castle Phoenix 10
Thunder Power 2S 250mAh
GWS 8x4.3
Futaba S3156 on ailerons
Futaba S3154s on elevator/rudder
Futaba R6004FF receiver

I built this airplane totally stock, no extra lightening and no lightening of the equipment besides taking the case off the receiver and ESC. It came out RTF at 118g, or about 4.16oz. This is a really nice light weight with no effort at all!

For larger area flying, I would still suggest a Hacker A10-9L with a 2S 325mAh Thunder Power pack.

RJ

I chose not to on this airplane to see how that works as a lot of builders might choose not to. We plan to include enough carbon in the milled kit to do aileron and elevator bracing, though!

Yes, can be built for that! A 2S VPP setup would work best on this airplane. It does not include a thrust vectoring mount, however.

Some extra steps should be taken when building the model for vpp. I will be building one soon with vpp and post my suggestions for a good vpp setup.

Any news on your VPP build? I am in the process of sourcing all of the parts to build one myself
