USPS - again

I ordered parts from china on the 1st (two metal pieces - each about the size of a US quarter). They shipped on the second, arrived in san francisco on the 3rd, cleared customs of the 4th. It's the 9th, and tracking still says it cleared customs on the 4th (final destination is 30 miles south of seattle) .

China gets it right, dealers are usually quick to ship and the trip to the US is real quick.
Why does it take the post office 10 to 12 days to move a package a little over 700 miles (that's less than 12 hours at 60 miles an hour).

Its probably sitting in customs. And the Chinese New Year celebrations ended recently, so theres most likely a huge backlog.

Well you have to understand a bit about how they're getting it over here too. They're basically throwing it on a pallet and wrapping it with several hundred other packages and tossing that on a plane. That then is broken down by whatever receiving end and the normal dispersion happens. But again consider, from china to here is just a single flight. There's a lot more work happening in the countries ground network. If you ordered some kind of super fast delivery then they would air it to the nearest place and have it to you quickly. You get what you pay for.
