Hi Everyone.

I just picked up a used one of these this morning. Since it was left over after a relationship crash, the price was good but I could not get much information from the x wife.

After some exploration I found out that this is a PNP version so it does not have the AS3X.

Due to the demise of this plane at HH are there any parts I should get while they are easily available?

I read earlier in this thread that there are people hand launching and belly landing. Are you guys still doing this? I would put some packing tape on the belly and on the leading edge of the wing for sure. Is there anything else that needs to be done? What about the tail wheel?

thanks, John

Does anybody know why this Artizan is discontinued?

The best guess around here is poor sales. It's not the most attractive plane visually, and it's also not a scale model of anything.

It's too bad. If people judged the book by the cover, they really missed out on a good plane. Two of the best planes in my fleet - the Apprentice S and the ArtiZan - are not scale models but are excellent aircraft for RC flying.

I have posted here before that I think poor sales were mostly due to the lousy graphics they put on it.
Even the colors are dull.
I have been flying mine for a year & a half now & it still goes with me nearly every time I go flying.
I bought a spare when they were being dis-continued (I hope I never need it, but I wouldn't want to be without an Artizan)

I'm really happy with the colour scheme. The colours were even more vivid out in the sunshine today, model visibility was excellent and it looked lovely which is a bonus!
Really like that scheme, Stickshift. How did you get the original decals off cleanly and how did you make the new ones?

Hi

I think it looks good and I've ordered one today.

Hopefully the AS3X doesn't affect how it feels in the sky in an adverse way.

The graphics and the name. The name was not good for marketing by any means.

I have several planes with the AS3X and I can say that none of them feel affected while I am flying. Basically, when you start moving the sticks you are on your own. The AS3X does its work mostly when you have your sticks neutral.

The original decals are just stickers, they peel off easily.

My new ones are made out of adhesive sticker film that students use to cover books and stuff - same weight as proper rc film and much cheaper!

I just bought a NIB BNF Artizan. I saw it at a LHS and figured I would snatch it while they are still available

That's certainly a decent price for it. When they got closed out by HH, I think the BNF was around $175 and the PNP was around $150.

Great score of a great flying plane

Something I did to mine, as I've had it since they first came out....was to glue a carbon rod on the trailing edge of the rudder, as that edge was taking quite a beating of hanger rash and transport...solved the problem very well and that edge is straight and fresh
