NGH 38cc 4 stroke

Turk showed a pointer to this engine a little while back. Looks interesting. Anyone tried it yet? I dont mind tinkering, but I dont want a project engine. More interested in flying.

I want to get one too, but I have to wait a while, as I am short on funds at the moment. Good thing they sold out fast, so I didn't have to fret about it much. HiModel has been pretty good on getting parts out, even when out of stock or back ordered. I ordered some parts and it didn't take them all that long to fill the back order either.

It just came out. If I remember it took several months after the 9cc engine came out before other dealers in the USA started selling the engines. Since they have a network in place now, I assume it will be a few weeks. Like you stated it takes time to ship them across the ocean to the stores.
Himodel seems to get them first before everyone else does.

I have mine, and so far its not too bad. I think the only "cheap" part is the exhaust tube. Its like the cheapest softest aluminum. But the motor runs fine so far.

The power results I've seen for the NGH 38 quoted are 7300 RPM W/an 18X8 prop.

Back in the spring when I was testing E-85 pump gas in my C&H CDI Saito FA150 I was seeing 7500 RPM W/an 18X8. Even if 200 RPM is lost using 10% ethanol pump gas instead of E-85, the FA150 gas conversion will still make as much power in a lighter package that vibrates a lot less.

This enginje does not even seem to be in the same power classs as an FG30 let alone an FG36 Saito.

What's the weight?

Those engines are so newly arrived that none of them has a complete break in yet let alone have a good tuning after(timing etc). So, give some time to evaluate them.

It will have a long way to go from 7300 W/an 18 X 8 to live up to the Saito FG36 that is is competing with.

8000 W/an 18X8 is about where a gas burning 4-stroke engine of this size should be running.

That's just under 3HP, the RPM listed is about 2.2HP. More on the order of a 25cc gas 4-stroke level of power.

Well one thought is it has a Walbro carb and uses a RCexl ignition, both of which work. Some people have been pretty vocal about having to upgrade their Saito gas engines to get them to work.

Just how did you get your field like that.
Here in missouri USA we have a bunch of snow on our field and unless you have skis it cannot be flown off of

I happened to see that NGH released a "PRO" version of the 38cc four cycle engine.
http://www.himodel.com/engines/NGH_3..._GF38-PRO.html
It has three piston rings on it instead of the two on the regular engine. They also put in four prop bolts instead of just the single center prop nut on the regular engine. Looks like it has black anodized trim in lieu of the blue anodizing trim. Plus it uses a radial mount setup and does not have lugs on it for beam mounting.

We so have a deal with the local farmer and his tractor/snowblower

If it is just 10-15 cm we do use this manual snowblowers.

And if it is just some few cm we do use two europall upside down hatched together behind a car and drag rhis unit along so the surface is just as smooth as silk....
