diy computer dsm2 radio
I am wondering if anyone has ever taken a radio Iike the dx4e, pulled out the main board and replaced it with an arduino and an LCD to give multipul module memory? I have seen the DIY 9x radio but would like to do one with an arduino if possible.

Better to buy a decent radio in the first place and just reprogram it. Otherwise, between the hardware cost and writing your firmware from scratch, you're so far behind the curve that you'll never catch up.

Basicly I have most of what I would need to build one and would be doing it for fun. I was just looking for people who have done it on the adriuno

The 9x radio is basically an arduino with the case, switches, pots, sticks, etc. all set up for you. The only difference would be the main PCB. You could use an arduino dev board for it if you wanted to. The DIY 9x thread is just a arduino without the dev board, just the bare chip.

9x is not Arduino based. It uses the ATMega processor (as used in Arduino) but the firmware is C/C++ based.
The unit as shipped comes with an ATMega644 processor but there are boards available with ATMega2560 and 32bit Arm processors. Peter Quote:

Here is one that is based upon an ATMega2560 however it is designed to use a USB joystick. He also has a version to use an analog joystick which could be modified to use the traditional controls.
