Best brushless for Me 109

Ok I just got an me 109 (my second one) first one I used a razor 400. Loved it but I want to see if there are any other compariable brushless motors out there....with maybe a tad more weight....here is what I researched on the ezone..what do you all think...Please help!!! Now I am going to run it with a 3s1p 1200etec poly
1. Mega 16/15/7
Pros = Price at 70 dollars nice
= Dont need a gearbox
= Power
= Less flight time ???
* A guy said he flew with 8 cell 950 kans for 8 min. I dont see that being long.
con = 2.68 oz..ouch
2. Razor 2500
Never thought about it..and was not out...just seeing if there are any info on this motor for gws planes
3. Himax
Pro = Powerful
= Easy to install
Con = 2.3 oz.....not to bad
4. MPJet...dont have much on it..if ya all have anything on it It would be appreciated...
Thanks so much guys.....I just want the best brushless for my setup...
Bill

you can not go wrong with any of these power options.

One thing though, those GWS warbirds fly like fighter if the weight is about 20oz (ask me how I know). the lighter the weight the more they fly like a park flyer :-)

All of my GWS warbirds weight about 20-21oz, of course I reinforced the fuse, the wings and the motor mount. I prefer that weight on my gws WW II planes :-)

I would vote for the mega if you want a fast plane on 3s lipo. No gearbox is nice and it'll mount easy if you use the gws direct drive mount.

For scale speed and light weight (and cost!) I'd go mp25/25 on 2s and prop it way up to 9x6. You will not need to modify the battery bay if you go this route.

Take your time with the linkages and reinforce them, especially if you go with the mega. Use real CA hinges cut into 1cm wide strips. You may think about using balsa ailerons, if not, use aluminum tubing where the torque rods enter the aileron to keep the rods from working their way through the styrofoam.

Good luck

3S e-tec 1200s are only rated to 7 or 8 amps

A 14t Astro 010 w/ 3.75:1 GWS gb,10x8 prop, pulls about the same current. It should be a good match.

If you decide to use a more powerfull motor, you will need higher output cells

razor 2500a (a being with the inline Gear box) weighs one once more than a stock GWS 300 motor and 1.5 oz more than a RZ400 in a GWS gearbox

MPJet will give plenty of noseweight and move the plane nicely

i use the 25/35 w/ 4.1 : 1 GBox and a 9x6E apc prop on 8 and 9 HECell pack

got a Mega 15/15/4 w 2:1 inline GBox on 9x6e apc Prop on the Spit...on 8 to 10 cells its pretty fast....but.....very heavy

i do 3s2p TP 2100 on mega's and am still a little under amping the motor ...or over amping the batt. it really depends upon your set up

i use a 16/15/4 geared 2/1 with 9x6 prop...i'm right at 25 amps static....the 3s1p tp 2100 can easily handle about 12 to 13 amps

to i run a 3s 2p set up

16/15/4 no gear with 6x4 prop pulls about 18 amps static

again a parallel set is required

you can see where this is going....3s1p etec just not going to cut it on a mega.

Hi Thor

I use the MPJET 25/35 not the 25/25 so there is a bit more weight.

It made the Zero Punch holes in the sky

weight 22- 25oz AUW with HE packs

Flight times on HECell 1100 approx....8 to 12 minutes
TP 2100- 18 minutes

Speed increase was about 50%

to really get some great answers on power upgrades and save the expense of trial and error ( which is my route and i'm not completely satisfied with my Mega experiments right now) try E-mailing the guys at www.e-flightline.com.

they have done alot more experimentation with all the motors and sell all the set ups (including specialized motor mounts) at decent prices.

Though you didn't mention it, I like the Himax motors as a razor alternative. Nice thing about using gear boxes, is that you can then gear and prop for how you want to fly it - speed or climb tuned without changing motors.

The ratio of weight to lift (sq in of wing) is what will mostly determine wind handling.. It could be 100lbs, but if it has a huge wing, it will still get tossed around.

I have a himax and Tanic 2200's in my glassed mustang, and it is fast with great wind handling at 18.4 oz.
