Ok it's been a while since I've posted in this thread. I have finished and maidened the model. It was non eventful aside from the fact that the model flew great. This with only elevons. I've flown the arse off it, crashed, rebuilt , flown some more then I've finally painted it. It's only a quick sort of job so I can see it in the sky of an American flag draped across her. I'm Canadian and the fellas commented about that but you can't put a Canadian flag on the F15! I've a couple videos to post shortly and I've no photos yet but I will get them up for you.

I like this one so much. It's easy to launch and fly and slows down to almost no speed at all. It's forgiving in the stall if it does stall! I tear this thing around the sky I've dove to the earth skimmed across the runway at less than a foot. I've even knocked the nose off a rock in doing so. The very next day it's up and looking pretty again so I painted it. People like to watch it and I like to fly it. Thanks Steve. That's number 4. I think I will build another tomcat thank you.

well here is a video. It's earlier on in the day and not as exciting as a couple of the others but during one someone decided to saunter up to me to ask if he could buy it. ruined the video but all part of our hobby.

Hello All.
Looks like this thread has seen it's better days....
Still, I was hoping to gain some advice.
I'm doing a 100% build, and I think I went a little overboard on my choice of motor/battery.
I purchased the Turnigy 2830-11 1000kv motor, and the Turnigy 2200mAh 3S 25C Lipo.

With this being my first "scratch" attempt, I appreciate any insight you can share.

Thanks again,
Mark

Hi Mark.
Steve's design it quite remarkable - it started life powered by an anemic flee on a treadmill (geared brushed 400 motor) through to some quite terrifying overpowered bullets, and all seemed to fly OK. If you think you are overpowered, then just don't put the pedal to the metal until it is flying and has a bit of speed on - otherwise the dreaded torque roll can bite.
Steve uses the underarm loob - this means it is pointing UP & has more space (& time) before terraintersection occurs.
Mike
Others with more knowledge of your particular power setup will probably chime in (I hope).

Thanks Mike,

Your words are so true. There is so many power plant options listed on this thread, it was somewhat of a struggle to decipher them all. With that being said, I will definitely heed your caution when launching this bird the first few times.

Thank you,
Mark

I've built Steve's F-5, F-15, F-18, and Bandit. I've also built several other parkjets. All of them have been powered using a 2212-6 2200Kv motor, 6x4 APC prop, 30-40A ESC, and a 3S 2100 Lipo. Others may agree also, but IMO that set-up is THE sweet spot for the parkjets.

Maiden day.
Wish me luck.
Hopefully the before and after pics will be the same. (Minus the grass stains)

Not enough power. Wouldn't take flight.

Scratching my head. Banging it on the wall.

I hesitate to ask :-
Is the prop on the correct way? Convex side to the front, concave to the rear? of the hairypain
(I did quite a bit of lawn mowing before I woke up to the 'problems of pushers' (XB70 in 1968 )

That could be my problem...investigating.

If I did put the prop on backwards, this post is no admission of guilt.

My notifications don't match what is visible in the thread - it seems the demon redactor has been hard at work

Any way, having gone to the effort, I've taken a photo of a tractor prop,
the pusher prop should be the other way round (impossible with the pictured prop, was just handy)
That should confuse people even more.....
