Deleting Ad's after sale.

Why can't we delete ad's after sales are complete?

I see ad's 110 days old just taking up space.
RC Universe you sell something mark it sold and delete the ad, case closed.
E-zone it stays on forever, just curious why we can't have a delete button?

well for one thing, it adds extra protection for you as the buyer as evidence of the sale
in case later actions need be taken apon a faulty deal ,
It aids people buying and selling to determine a price to ask or offer, it might not always be right but gives you an idea, and finally with the cost of storage today and the size of drives available cheap,
why we as a user would even need to worry about it?
its the traffic at one time that gets taxing on a server not whats there

You can't delete the ad on RCU, it just gets closed automatically through their system and doesn't show unless you specifically select to see sold items.

Here, it's just click the "Mark Sold" button and it's closed.

FWIW, old ads are good for research, you might be looking for something and come across where it was sold/traded on here. A quick PM to the buying party and you might have the info you need.

Old ads are the bread and butter of the Feedback system - FWTW.

You can also edit your ad once the item sells. Go back in and use advanced edit function, delete the title of the thread, then the contents and leave 3 dots or commas. Delete pics, then hit close thread, and there you are. Nothing left to read.

Wish the title of this thread was "Why delete prices after item sells". I don't think the ad should be deleted for reasons stated and I wish folks would tell us what they sold it for for reason gravity stated.

So I guess I'm saying I'm glad we don't have a delete button and wish it was even more perm that it is now. It can be a huge help to figure out what to spend on something or what to ask for something. I research stuff all the time

If there was a real/true classified machine here like at rcu and others it would make for a much cleaner and easier to search forum. If the for sale forum was moderated I'm sure there would be a more advanced system put in place in short order. As stated , now we must depend on sellers to update and close their own for sale threads and as you see that is about a 60/40 proposition.
