I'm looking forward to seeing some of those. Thinking of using one in an upcoming revival project.

The beaver is amazingly well detailed... love the floats with wheels. With its size, I bet the 2S UMX guts would have been a really good match for the airframe.

Thanks! The floats look great on the model, but I need to rebuild the mounting system because it wasn't done well enough in the first place. The Beaver was my first scratchbuilt model, and so were the floats. My initial construction of the floats wasn't very precise, and it ground looped alot. The lack of either free swiveling or steerable gear was also a point of issue. I need to redo the main gear mounts though, because the wires holding the wheels came loose and dug into the wheel, effectively acting as a brake. I posted a thread about the float modification and construction here, and I will redo the floats sometime soon and add more to said link.

"Amphibious" floats for micro floatplanes

Hi Gene

I got the plans off Small Flying Arts. They were originally designed for rubber FF but I converted it. An old build thread, not counting the overhaul and weight savings, is here:

22" micro DHC-2 Beaver

I continued progress as the Stick and Tissue Cook-up progressed.

After an attempt at flight 2 years ago, where I had to push it to reach flying speed, and it took off only to gain about 3 inches of altitude before failing to clear the grass, I overhauled the plane. I installed depron tail surfaces and wing skins. I also nixed the removable wing and disabled the lights.

I am, however, thinking of doing a Beaver V2 along with a Cessna V2.

Plans for the Beaver are attached. I printed them on standard letter paper.

Thanks! I considered that, but I figured it would add too much weight to the plane, and while it would have the thrust to get airborne, it would be too fast to fly indoors. As a result with the Beaver V2 redesign I will try to build lighter, and using a better battery and motor. Who knows - maybe I will use the 2s setup. Great suggestion!

I buy crashed airframes at swap meets for $20-40 as my source of AR6400 and 6400L.

(Thankfully I also have a stock of the discontinued inexpensive Target 1S brushed bricks)

I guess I can post a kit plane here, it's for a friend of mine who asked me to detail it up a bit more. The builder took over two years to get it done, (after many Emails and phone calls) my friend gave up on it as a lost cause but I stuck on trying and finally got it this year. I was disappointed a bit on how it was finished so I asked him if I can "work on it" and so I did. This is a Maule Rocket and it's what my friend had as a real plane and wanted to get micro plane to look like it. Anyways it's finished
