Re-soldering motor leads-Turnigy 2730 1500

Hi, I recently obtained a GWS SS with a Turnigy 2730 1500kv motor, but one of the motor leads has become separated from the wire.. is this fixable?

yes in most cases. If you can carefully unwind the damaged strand a couple of turns off the stator to get enough to work with. the new exposed wire will have enamel coating that needs to be removed a little from the end so solder will take. You can scrape the enamel off with an exacto knife. I had asked years ago about if all 3 phases were wound different (turn counts were different) if it was harmful and the consensus was that it was minor. Hope this is helpful.

I've never done soldering before.. I also don't have an iron, and being a college student have limited storage etc.. would it be more prudent for now just to purchase a new one?

If you plan on staying long term in this hobby it would be a good idea to have something to solder with. It is not hard to solder. And you need just a few items to do soldering.

Ron,
I keep a bottle of asprin at my solder bench just for magnet wire.
Fumes are brutal tho.
