I just called horizon and they want me to send it in.

Mine seems to be well balanced.
Same here. Mine was perfectly balanced out of the box.

I will. Not sure if they will be able to test it. ESC was yanked out and damaged.

I have fitted the retracts using the supplied front strut.

Yes it works great thanks.

Ok so for the first flight should I have the stock lipo all the way pushed forward?

What is a good battery position?

i suppose it would vary based on rx and esc placement, but yes, my batt needs to be pushed all the way forward and she is still slightly nose heavy...

i have to tm1000 and dx8 with the scimitar. tm1000 also on my hobby-lobby f18. i have had a few times on both planes where my min/max readings show below 4v for the rx. i have a seperate bec in f18, stock esc/bec in scimitar. so i dont know why my rx volts drops in both planes. im thinking it might be such a slight drop it only lasts for a millisiecond? i even dialed up the voltage on the ccbec to 6v instead of 5v. it still drops from time to time with no frame losses or holds?? and whats funny is i cant repeat this on the ground lol

On 5s 3300 with CC ICE 100 ESC using APC 9x9E Prop

Amps WOT - 69.5
Watts WOT - 1240
Stock Motor = about 180 degrees after several 10 second bursts of WOT (no airflow - sitting on the ground) - ambient temp - 60 degrees

I can't find the specs on the motor, so the big question is - can it take it (longer than just my test)?

Inqiring minds want to know...

I'll fly it tomorrow to see what it does in the air.

That's great news. Im yet to maiden my Scimitar but I have a 5S 3300 lipo and 100 Amp speedy and APC 12x8E (which I will cut down to the 9x8E) ready to fit. Was that speed with retracts fitted and up?

I also seem to have found another issue. When the retracts are up and the rudder ATV are at 100% the nose wheel push rod bends because the nose wheel servo is travelling too far but only when turning left. I had to reduce the rudder atv down to 62% to stop it. It still had plenty of rudder movement but is that normal?

I have found the info regarding the nose wheel pushrod issue. I can't believe Horizon have released this plane and not tested it with retracts fitted and seen the nose wheel pushrod binding. The video shows them flying with the retracts.

Just looked at the datalogging on the ICE 100,long
speed runs 83-84 amps,1400 plus watts,and RPM's 13000!
Cool in upstate Ny temps were 41 when flying..

Crash

Hi Crash,

As long as you can collect data quickly, I strongly suggest you keep your static tests to maybe 4 seconds.

Collecting quickly by memorizing what you see on wattmeter, or video of wattmeter screen, or ICE ESC, or Eagle tree data logger

180 degrees is just too hot.

If you want to do repeated tests, then allow motor to get back to room temp in between your static tests.

With data loggers I stay closer to 3 seconds.....WOW, multiple 10 second runs was way tooooo long.

I'm glad you didn't burn motor. Hopefully the KV is not raised some because of your magnets having become a little weaker due to overheat.

Enjoy your 5S flights.
