Here is where my 800 2s pack sits with the 4 ch RX on top of the wing. Also a few picts of how I tarted her up. The decals were unused ones from my HK Parkjet

Unfortunately my Mini Swift is beyond repair.
Firewall busted, front end distorted by gobs of gorilla glue.
I've decided to wait for HK to get these little birds back in stock and try again.
I believe the root to my problems with the Mini Swift lay in the fact that I used a prop adapter instead of a prop saver. Some hard landings resulted in the front part of the fuse cracking repeatedly. Next Mini will be used with either a prop saver or a Graupner folding prop.
Any suggestions for sizes and where to get a Graupner?
I intend to use the 1806 motor.
Thanks.
I really love the MS and can't wait to get another. Too bad they don't do the crash kit anymore.

Is only the front part broken? If it's the case you can make that part with depron and carbon fiber rod with 1806 motor.

Stuffed my Mini Swift into terra firma (or should that be terror frima) Was flying again in winds that would have grounded most models and having a blast. The wind was blowing across the park in the direction a row of houses. I cut the power just above them with the plan to glide in for a nice touch down. Instead, the model just went into a vertical dive that no amount of elevator would pull out from. It disappeared behind a hedge and I heard a sickening crack. I walked round to see if I could find it, expecting to see bits of foam strewn everywhere. To my surprise I found it in a flower bed about 2" away from a brick wall. The canopy had popped off and the prop was broken but all in all she looked to have survived pretty well. Back to base and I noticed that there was a split in the fuse, the left hand side of the wing was torn & distorted and the live aileron hinge was damaged.
CA took care of the fuse and the old hot water trick took out all of the distortion as well as a couple of dings on the leading edge. A bit of CA on a minor wing tear and some blenderm tape for the aileron and we will be back in business.
Conclusion, these are tough little models. If it had been a total loss I would certainly have bought another without hesitation.

My mini swift had a sad encounter with a Me 109, it resulted in the wires being pulled out of the motor..... so i resurrected the second body into a glider.
Put a HK glider release on the nose activated by the rudder servo and also fixed a tow hook for bungee launch.

Works Ok for bungee, not a glider for aerotow though.
For your amusement have a look at

Hobby King Mini Swift - Testing bungee launching (1 min 57 sec)

E-Flite Apprentice + HobbyKing Mini Swift - First Aerotow attempts (4 min 8 sec)

Folding prop upgrade?

Hi All,
Can anyone advise a good prop upgrade from the original supplied one?
I'm happy with the model in it's stock form without mods it flies well.

But my prop seemed a bit off balance from day 1 (losing energy to a vibration) & rather than replace it with the same, if there is an alternative, I'd like to give it a go.

I've read up to page ~40 and and gave up - sorry just got lazy and thought I'd ask directly.

Cheers - Phil

This poor thread is so old.
Well, I see HK has this back in stock...
Now that I know the ins and outs of this little bird, I just might get another...
$60+ for a small plane that kicks a$$ when hopped up!

Ya see there! I just talked myself into it!

My buddy who I gave my old one to flies that darn thing nearly every day, and just loves it to death. I was at the field yesterday and he head it up there.

Once you get used to it's quirks, and set it up the way you like it, it's hard to beat this little critter for what it is!

I love this bird and flew it all the time because it sits on my front seat...... Until I was flying inverted w/out the battery being secured. It didn't fly so well with a 450mah 3s battery dangling. LOL. I just have to put the crash kit I have together w the old power system a good winter project. The kinetic, bonsai, pz micro Trojan and this get the most stick time just because they CAN go every where.

Got my MS, take 2, all set up stock. Hinges, control horns, motor etc. I managed to re-use the main wing from my first MS.
I won't even try to fly her just yet. I'm going to wait for my 1806 motor and 10amp esc to show up before I even maiden her. I have a small 2 channel (aileron/elevator) gyro from a scrunched up F86 Sabre that I'm going to try to put to good use.
She's so nice and clean and perfect right now that I'd almost hate to fly her.
As they say... A plane in a hanger is safe but that's not what planes were built for.
Hopefully in the next couple of weeks.
