hi there co pilots. i thinking of buying my first 6ch CP 450 heli and im wondering if i can fly one. i've been flying my co-ax heli for a month now and got bored. are there any 450 cp heli pilot out there that learned to fly one without the aid of simulator? i'd rather invest the cost of simulator to get a good cp heli. and btw, is kds 450qs a good one? cant find a good review (english) on it. alishanmao's review is too brief. thanks.i hope profesional pilots out here can give me some advise.

A Syma 3 channel coax to a CP heli is a huge step. It's worse than no experience because what it taught you is wrong.

i also did research on many things about it like pitch and throttle curve, idle up, swash movement. i think i understand more its control rather than actually flying it because i never flew one yet.

You still have less than no experience. You will crash within 30 seconds. Buy something like a WL Toys V911 or V929 quad. At least get a little useful experience.

maybe your right but i haven't try flying one yet. I'll let you know weather I'll crash within 30 seconds. my 450 will arrive after 3 weeks. i also ordered training gear btw.

Well, it will certainly be interesting! Be sure to keep us posted, good or bad. Please remember the channel assignments are not the same as your 3 channel. That's the costs most people who start with 3 channels the most.

according to what i observed, controls are slightly similar. throttle/pitch and yaw at left stick, and forward/backward and roll at right stick (depends on what mode). its just that the yaw is at the right stick in a 3ch heli and doesn't have a roll. its just a matter of knowing what stick movement does to the movement of the heli itself.

I need to search more information on the toggle switches located at the upper corners of the transmitter.

You appear to be very confident. Sounds like you have an engineering or techical background? In this case you might find knowledge is a poor substitute for experience.

You will now simultaneously be managing different channel assignments, much much quicker movement, no self-stabilizing after each stick input with very little time to think or react. Then add large high speed rotating blades . . .

I had lots of flights on fixed pitch such as Solo Pro 260/328/228, F45 and v911. My first flight with the v929 quad, which also is quick and non self-stabilizing, was a quite an eye opener - manageable and relatively safe and crash resistant, but surprising different. Once I get totally comfortable with the quad I will get a small cp.

yep, licensed electronics engineer. sensitivity of the controls can be decreased in EPA and EXP.

Don't let them get you down. John Salt from rchelicopterfun.com has always said the best thing to train on is a 450 size heli with the proper set up and tamed down for a beginner. If you go to his website. he has a training session with 10 lessons to get you hovering safely. If you follow his instructions, you should be able to hover the helicopter without crashing it. Also check out the RADDS School of rotary flight and do those 10 lessons. Both of these trainings teach you basic controls and the goal is to get you to hover your CP heli without any damage to you or to the heli. All I'm saying is it can be done, but have to accept that what you learned with the coax is not going to transfer to a collective pitch helicopter. you may truly be worse off, that I don't know.
Good luck though, do let us know how you do, but be patient with yourself and take the time necessary to set up the bird properly, to tame down the controls and to do the lessons until you learn them.

i already watch those videos from day 1 to 10 and that convinced me to skip sims and fp's. I'll be blaming him if my first 450 crashes. just kidding.
