PET, a nice building material
When you see the canopies some people create from PET bottles, you will agree that it's useful at the least. I have been picking all kinds of PET wrappings out of the trash for a while for different purposes (my wife hates me for it), but really, the sheets of OHP film available at my local print shop have been especially useful for sheeting fuselage, as well as covering up ceratin hinge gaps. And yes, you can print on them.
Now I finally found a plastic gift wrap which pretty much replaces "professional" covering film at 1/20 the cost.
My latest plane consists not as much of foam (it still has plenty of foam parts), but more of a hard carbon/balsa frame covered in gift wrap. I am quite happy with the result, as I was shooting for something nicely and "aerodynamically" shaped.
