Build Log
Micro (nano?) off road truck scratch build.

I have been wanting to do this for a long time. I found some incredibly small parts for RC cars on HobbyKing. So far, it is just an image. I am trying to make a cheap, tiny, scratch built racing RC truck. Some parts I will make myself, while others I will buy. The chassis will be 8 by 5 cm, or 3 5/16" by 2 1/8." here is a diagram of what I am trying to do: Name: car layout.JPG

Another member here has been building some nano sized trucks. He might be able to offer some advice. Here is one of his threads.

I see that. I'll just put it on top or bottom of the other electronics. I have a tiny 1s lipo from a hobbyzone duet I can use that will definitely fit.

I have built the chassis, along with a bumper. I think that I might want to use instamorph for the wheels, shell, and maybe the steering parts that connect to the wheels. For the part of the steering that connects to the servo, I will use a paperclip. I just realized I have all of my projects planned out at least 75% through. Weird. Maybe I am an organized person after all.

I have a shell mold finished, I will have the shell soon hopefully. Figured out how to make moldable plastic cheaper that instamorph.

I have this hotwheels rc car that I think I will use. That car is tiny, and will definitely fit. Now the only problem is the tires.

how's it going?

id like to see some pic's on the build. but anyways ya, you should go with some roco 496 tires they look good on these micro/nano trucks, but if you cant come across any roco ,go with some lego tire rap around a 99cent cheap rim/tire,that works out, check out my threads or ill post some pics, you'll see what i mean. but on the lego tire ,your going to have to heat and cool to fit rim...and thanks for keeping these threads going

First, sorry about the pics, my camera won't connect to my computer the cord (you may think "duh" but the design has a usb output or input on it but is still won't connect to my computer) is missing, but I'll try somehing else.
Second, I will look for some 99cent store wheels, and I am trying vacforming for the shell along with a hotwheels car called "sandblaster" or a matchbox 1972 Ford Bronco (I have a vast collection of hotwheels) to form it on. My local hobby store sells this "strip styrene" plastic sheeting, and I had to get some. I will try multiple hotwheels cars for the first time I will vacform, because the stripstyrene only comes in rods, thin strips, and sheets in packages of 3.

For the help, I thank you very much.

Anybody think pen springs will work for shock absorbers? From a Pilot G2 07 pen? That is just my preferred pen to use.

the best pen spring i found to use for these micro/nano cars are bic multi-color pen there not to stiff or weak just perfect or any multi-color pen should work.
