Build Log :

This is my latest plane (9th plane), a OV-10A Bronco. I only have 1 motor left so I will use it as a pusher motor on the back of the fuselage. I usually use mainly 5 mm depron, but now I only use 5 mm for the formers and ribs, for the skin I use 3 mm depron. I started with the 3D model, modelled from 3 view drawing using Gmax and unfold it into 2D patterns with Pepakura Designer.

amazing model!
I'm a bronco fan and made a easybuild version a couple of year ago and the pusher version worked fantastic... your version will perform lot better thanks to the wing (mine was a KF2)and the lighter frame... and of course looks lot better too.
Do you plan post the plans? I really like to see the fuselage and cockpit pieces...
be carfull with elevator-rudder union.. it could be fragile and tendto flex on high speed recovers on dives...

good luck!

Yes I will post the plans, eventually.
and thanks for the tips.

I put 2 dummy windmilling props in front to add the scale look. Yes they produce drag, but not much, I think.
I use styrofoam for the spinners and balsa for prop blades.

Maiden flight

The dummy props were windmilling perfectly, just like I want but a little bit nose heavy.
I had to make an emergency landing because the motor was vibrating hard.
Pretty hard landing that cause the motor came off from the mounting.

Thanks Balthazar and foamdave
yesterday I had it in the air again, I test it with and without the dummy prop. The result was surprised me, the dummy props drag is way bigger than I anticipated. Today I replace the motor with bigger one. 2826 1500 kv 250 watt motor with 8x6 propeller was replaced with 3536 750 kv 330 watt with 3 blade 10x6 prop (ex corsair's). I also trim the dummy prop a bit shorter, the result with more power the plane fly well and land well. I'll post video when I have my friend available to hold the camera.

Also add an extended fuel tank (accessories)

Thanks will, yes it made entirely from foam, polyfoam for more specific or depron foam. I use 5 mm thick for formers and ribs and 3 mm for the skin. I use styrofoam only for tip of the nose, both dummy spinners and both pilot figures. 2mm balsa sheet for stabilizers spar and dummy propeller blades. PET plastic sheet for the canopy. Bicycle spokes for landing gear struts. 2 mm plywood for landing gear bases and motor mount. That's all

specs :
1. Wingspan : 1300 mm ~ 52 inches
2. Flying Weight : 1186 gram ~ 2.6 lb
3. Brushless Motor : 3536-750kv 330 watt
4. Propeller : MA 3 blade - 10x4
5. 6 servos - 9 gram
6. Fixed landing gear

Very nice build. Did you make the canopy from scratch?
