Build Log
Sherman DD

I have finally started the DD build. Here are a couple of pictures of what has been done and some of the nonstandard tank parts I will be using. I am still missing sprockets, plastic chevron pattern tracks, and a pair of bogies.

Thanks, but it is going to be taking me awhile to get it finished.

I have not been idle, but have only a couple of pictures for you of the progress. I have modified the Tamyia turret to an early 75MM split hatch, low bustle version. I have also modified the lower ring to accept the Mato rotation ring and to be removable with the 4 screws. I have also added the cut-water to the transmission cover.

Here are a couple of updated pictures. I have added magnets to the lower hull and screws to the posts in the upper hull. They seem to hold quite well.

I so enjoy the posts of your progress. You're an engineer, artist, and scholar all rolled into one Sir.

Thank you gentlemen. I only do it to keep out of bars and places of ill repute at night. LOL
I do enjoy the challenge of doing something a bit different though.

Here are two pictures of how far I have gotten on the water propulsion system.
The brass fittings on the motor shafts are the stuffing boxes that I just finished.

Really looking forward to more Herman, this build is really something special. Are you planning to float it?

That is my intention. I do not think it will be a battler though, and I am not sure I am going to put recoil in it yet. Still a lot to do before I get to the electronics.

Having it float may not be historically correct as most of them found their way to the bottom of the Ocean.

If anyone can do it, Herman will find a way to pull it off.
