Laminating film supplier

Does anyone know of a laminating film supplier to get lam film such as "new stuff" to cover epp combat wings with, preferably on the sunshine coast.

I have been searching for it on forums and web for ages and have not been able to locate any at a decent price.

I am going to order a wowings duck and try covering it in film to keep it light.

Snap Printing?

Try asking your local Snap Printing (or equivalent). You may be able to sweet-talk them out of a roll-end or two - comes in at least two different weights.
No, I have no financial interest, but one of our club members is manager at our local shop and a couple of us are putting together Le Fish slope soarers.
I have only done a few test pieces, but looks good so far over EPP - even better if filled and smoothed.
Cheers,
Pete

What thickness? most places like snap etc, are using 80 mil (heavy) film.

It's great stuff but adds a bit to your all up weight!

Officeworks used to sell book laminating film in 100m rolls for about $100. I don't know if they still do.
The issues are 1. it is way to much for one slope plane and 2. it is pretty thick stuff (~100 mil??) and adds quite a bit of weight - but it is as tough as anything.

The boundtoimpress site looks nice, but they only sell in rolls of 100 metres or more. Any suggestions if you only want a few metres ??

But isn't that way thinner than what people typically recommend ? Aloft Hobbies sells 3, 5, and 10 "mil" which is equivalent to 76, 127, and 254 microns ?

Hi Geoff_S
Depends on what you building .
I was just reading a thread where two Ultrabatic style Fish/Flow gliders were built.
One used 3mil(80Micron approx. lam film) the other !.7mil (38 microns lam film)
Now 3mil covered glider was 20.5 ounces
The !.7 mil covered glider was15.5 ounces
5 ounce difference is 25% (huge wing loading difference for this type of plane)
If your talking DS you probably should be talking to the DSM (DARK SIDE MASTER) AvB on what protection covering thickness you need.
Cliff
check out this link to the thread I am talking about
