Wind was around 40mph and fairly consistent throughout the day. The backside was smooth as a baby's butt. Finally got my MCT on step. I guess I'll keep it.

John how fast did you get her to go? As John said Norco was good today...

Pretty much the usual suspects up there with John, George, Chris Bosley, Gregg Bolton, Paul Anderson, myself, plus a few of the boys from San Diego came up to join in the fun - Jason Lilly and James.

It definately was a good day, with someone tearing up the place pretty much the whole time...

I hope we get to do it again some time soon.

Chris

I went 207. I also lost it in the sun during one of those 200mph passes. Boz talked me through it telling me to do loops (just changed the rates on the elevator or it would have been flicking). It was about 20 seconds later, felt like forever, when Boz found it eye level on the backside pretty far out. I got orientation and dove for the ground, creeped right back up the backside to the front. Probably one of the best saves I've ever had. After all that I almost landed on a bunch of rocks. 8 more lives left I guess.
...Always ds with buddies...

I had a similar experience with my D80 at Weldon. I lost sight of it on the top turn and Boz said essentially the same thing he told you but we were not able to locate it. On the way back to the truck Chris noticed it down by the road up next to the bottom parking area. We found it in a bush, flaps down with hardly a scratch on it. 1 lucky day.
Good on you

Tim

I was telling John about your D80 at Weldon and how you were so lucky, "about it landing on a bush".

I think it's so important to have it figured out what to do if a plane is lost in the air.

Get all the guys on the hill to look for it.

If it's going vertical let it go for a bit, then pull loops to keep it at about the same altitude for a while, (use that DS speed to you advantage)

Look down wind after it's been missing for a while, (thats where Johns was)

If it's missing for a while make sure and pull the crow to slow it down, (that's what allowed Tims Heavy D80 to land on a bush with no damage), I think Tim had some luck too.

Chris

PS

Congratulations on getting your plane over 300 Tim!!!
