Traxxas 1/10 4X4 Slash Or 1/16 e-Revo VXL??

Hi Guys,

I am debating whether to get a Traxxas 1/10 4X4 Slash Or 1/16 e-Revo VXL, i like both but can get only one.

Please advice. If you own both of them please let me know which one you like the most.

thanks in advance.

what kind of Mods did you do for Slash 4X4?

BTW, I primarily fly Helicopters and Airplanes and looking for something for bashing with my kids, will not be racing.

thanks

Wow, pretty big difference in the choices; like nite and day. Well, I have run both my MERV and 1/16th Slash against a full sized Slash and was able to keep up with the 1/10 Slash just fine. I have driven my buddy's Slash Ultimate and it is very fun to drive. Why not try the Mini Slash? It is about the same price as the MERV but handles like the 1/10 Slash. Slashes (both Mini and 1/10th) are a bit harder to drive than the E-Revo or the MERV because of the smaller tires. They are more prone to traction rolling than the Revos.

i would say the merv i have not drove the slash 4x4 but that is more for racing and the merv is fast and a good basher the mervs will smoke a 1/10 scale brushless revo with just 2 batteries and the big revo could be running lipos some times the merv will even smoke the big revo

slash 4x4. MERV is pretty unstable offroad and has temp problems. The Slash 4x4 is totally worth the extra cost. It is much more stable, keeps cool and has longer runtimes. It can also easily be raced. I used to have both, but I ended up selling the MERV because I didn't like it very much. It is a very good car, but the price is pretty steep. I would prefer to pay extra for the slash, or get a stampede vxl (I had one of them and loved it) for the same price.

You and I are a lot alike. I fly helis. I can't get my kids or grandkids to have any interest in them. But, I rebuilt an old RC10 buggy and they love it. I was going to buy the Slash 4 x 4, but it doesn't handle grass very well (my lawn is cut to 3 1/2"). So I decided on the Stampede VXL. Same running gear as the Slash but a lot bigger tires and more ground clearance. If I like the Stampede (picking it up tomorrow) I'll buy one or two more to race around the yard. They are a damn sight cheaper than crashing helis. I just had a simple heli crash yesterday. A gust of wind caught it while I was landing on the cement driveway and tipped it over. It was maybe 6 to 8 inches off the ground when it tipped. $60 damage. I also ran the RC10 full speed into a stone wall. No damage.
