Unless you are using DSM(11ch) or PCM(10ch), you are stuck at 9 channels.

Isnt that true with the Spektrum DX18? It doesnt have enough toggle's to allow 18 different channels but you can do a mix for the channels and obtain 18. I think that is correct?

Probably. I think the idea of 18 channels is more about having precise control of multiple elevator, aileron, flap servos etc than being able to control 18 individual channels.

That the 11XZero supports nine PPM channels is surprising to me. My 12XMV, which I believe is the same as the PCM12X, only supports eight PPM channels. According to the JR Propo (Japan) web site, the most channels JR FM receivers have are seven. To get more, one has to use either a SPCM or APCM receiver.

nice feature of 11x Zero Japanese Market radio is that you can run DMSS and DSM2/X And 72Mghz By Simply Switching Modules since its module based but i dont think you will get support from horizon in US for that Model

Bjorn,

JR's modulation started off with PPM, then PCM (Z) which is an encoded 9 bit system giving 512 discrete steps. They then switched to SPCM which is 10 bit giving 1024 discrete steps. Problem is that in order to get this data in the correct time frame they alternate channels 9 & 10 each frame. ie they send out channels 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 then 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,10.

For the 12X they introduced APCM to get the 12 channel data out. This is not compatible with any other receiver that JR used.

A 10X transmitter using SPCM could use any SPCM receiver, a PCM9X transmitter could use up to the 10 channel receiver but obviously the 10th channel would be inoperative.
