which radio?

Im new to building quadcopters, but I'm about to try with BlueSkyRC fun sized frame and all parts on their parts list, Arduino and WM+ for the controller.

I'm not willing to invest much in the radio at this point, so what are my options for cheapest radio?

I have a Hobbyking 2.4GHz 6Ch (Mode 2) radio. It works well without ANY problems and is great. But,
1. There's no LCD, so you need to connect it to your computer evry time you need to change trims, subtrims, reverse the channels, etc. So do buy the cable.
2. This one's a minor prob. The radio design is not comfortable to add a Tx LiPo. You need to have 8 AA cells.

Alternatively, you can invest a little more and buy the Turnigy 9X

Along with what as said before:
1. Don't buy anything with less than 6 channels.
2. Prefer a digital radio with LCD, unless you don't
mind to carry a laptop to the field.

I would reccomend getting a complete IMU board instead of wasting time with WM+ and nunchuck.

It's not about wasting time. Buying an all-in-one preassembeled, pre coded board is actually no fun. The satisfaction you get is different when you 'make' a standalone board using a pro-mini a WM+ and a nunchuk. Of course, one need not write the code but buying a programmer, flashing pre-written firmaware (open-source) oneself is all fun!
But at the same time, I agree with you. Buying a board is better, but only if time is a constraint.
