Would the 30-35 have enough balls to haul his thing around though stall? Higher KV for speed BUT what about climb out ect? Not sure if it'd be enough motor or not.

Hi, you mean 35-30 instead of 30-35? if it is, you would have enough power to hover at 70% throttle and ball big enough to recover from a though stall? you can get at least 1400g of thrust with the proper prop. If it is 1100kv it can work with a 12-6 prop you have torque enough for it. I do have. https://www.leaderhobby.com/product....=9394001220782

Cheers.

Hi staylony

then you may try go for 4s 10x7 1100kv. but watch the amps or try the 1700kv with the 8x6. This can work also. smaller prop with higher ptich more speed but less thrust. Just try and try and try...

yeah i think i might try the 10x7 on 3s with the 35-30 1100kv motor first. If its not fast enough ill order the 35-30 1700kv and put a 8x6 prop on it.

Razors edge the 35-30 1100kv has plenty of power to fly this plane. Look back through the thread or check my youtube channel and you will see a few flights with it.

I just want it to be a little faster thats all.

Turnigy 35 30 1400 Kv

Hi,

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=5244

Good vertical climb ! 3 S 2200, 41,82 Amps, 10,71 Volts, 460 Watts with 10 x 4,7 prop (max size possible for this motor). Motor fits perfectly.

Stock motor is crap... Gear too. Made a solid one with 2 mm alu : very strong, then the fuselage broke under trailing edge at first landing. With spruce longerons inside fuselage now it's finally OK.

Very good flights with 20 grams lead in the nose.

Throws : MAX with 25 % expo.

Paint : the original blue is a joke... paint it black !!!

HK should pay attention to some of it's products quality

why the need for the 20 grams in the nose, is she tail heavy.

Also how powerful is that turnigy motor you have installed? Any chance of some flight video.

BTW mate loving the black

Well, it's a 3 D model (they say so) with a little heavy tail (torque rolls) but I prefer to fly it as a classic park flyer Extra. And the replacement motor is 12 grams lighter than the stock one.
The new motor is > 400 Watts and I'll post a video asap.

If you can safely get > 400 watts through that motor please let us know. At that weight this thing would be a beast! My hunch is it's more like a 250 - 300 watt motor.

new motor and esc came in mail yesterday so I decided to remove the old motor when I discovered why my stock esc burned up..the wooden motor mount glue was completely gobbed in the center hole and had glue on the motors shaft. So when I tested it out on the bench the motor had so much friction rubbing on the shaft that it took my esc out right away after a 10 sec first time not even full blast test. POS!
So I put a larger plywood motor mount on with ZAP brand GOOP, it aint coming off!
today I will bolt on the motor, make the clearance for the motor in the cowl, put carbon fiber rods in the stock linkage sleeves for the elevator and rudder, new control horns are on the tail feather only, set up the ailerons all stock, set up a battery lockdown and then fly it with the stock gear until they piss me off. I will have video this weekend if the wind lays down in the evening by Sunday
my motor and esc

Hobbyking extra 260 APC 10x7 fancy flying (5 min 50 sec)

watch this in HD and full screen guys. I know it looks like a dot in the sky but im only using a hatcam and i cant really zoom in while im flying.

ok so i put a 10X7 on my turnigy 1100kv motor this morning and took it for a flight. Its a fair bit quicker then the 10x5 or 11x5.5 props i have tried on it. The 11x5.5 felt more stable in the air. But the 10x7 seems to pull it alot nicer through the turns and it doesnt stall as much.

Had 3 flights with the 10x7 prop and the esc was barley warm. The lipo was the same. Didnt seem like it was putting that much load on the motor or esc.

It goes fairly fast now but i want faster!!! So i have a new turnigy 35-30 1700kv motor on the way. I have already gone and got an APC 8x4 prop for it. Should got alot faster now. I can always fly it at 3/4 throttle if its to fast. Then the powers there when i need it.

I have also ordered a new 36" hobbyking/art tech yak 54. I will transplant the 1100kv motor from the extra 260 into it. Not sure which prop i will use yet. I have a turnigy 30a esc on the way to put in it as well. I have some HXT900 servos to put in it too. Should fly nicely on this setup. Hoping to do some true 3d hovering and flights with this bird as it has a nice big rudder.

I have some GWS naro servo arms on the way too (2 sets). They fit the HXT900 servos. Should give me alot more throw. Possibly too much but i can also use rates to control this. They are just taking ages for my order to come in. Could be a good thing as i need to improve my skill before i put these on I think.

Should have two fast acro birds really soon. Cant wait.

The 11x4.7 props that come with the Yak are about right. You want at least an 11" prop on that bird to clear the large diameter cowl. It won't be super fast since it's a relatively draggy airframe but it will be a lot of cheap fun. Everyone's worst enemy Z-8 has a good write up on it on his blog.

Cranking it up

I wanted to use my 35A ESC elsewhere, so I've installed my 70A with the Turnigy L3015A motor and a 11x7 Slofly prop. Reads 42A and about 480 watts. Tried a 12x6first but it pulled 48 Amp and the motor got hot as it's only rated to 52A. No flight report yet but testing the thrust just about pulled it out of my hand, no idea how to measure the thrust. Motor was warm and the ESC was still cool after 2-3 minutes full throttle. CG has only moved forward 6mm. The plane was doing a bit of tail dragging, maybe this'll balance her up. PS I'm still belly landing with no gear. Did a belly flop yesterday that was so hard it pulled the battery from the velcro and the cockpit popped up. The Packaging tape on each side of the weak point held but I'm seriously thinking about structural reinforcing.

Any suggestions on reinforcing an unbroken but cracked frame would be welcome.
