The auto and outdoor sign vinyl comes in all sorts of colors and clear, but it also comes in all sorts of thickness. It is heavy stuff, but the 3mm or thinner isn't so bad for planes around 24" wing span. The thin stuff is stretchy, and easy to over stretch when appling. I bought an F-15 kit a while back, but I am having trouble keeping the vinyl stickers attached. I suspect I will have to ensure the surface is very, very flat and free of and bumps and use a spray glue on the foam. It will then be like contact cement, so getting the alignment right the first time may become a challenge. I have been kicking around the idea of printing on the Japanese tissue paper and using the foam safe wood varnish as the glue and moisture resistant coating like others have been doing. It is a tricky business and some printers are a nuisance, but it is also important to use water proof inks. The others tend to run when they get wet. Wish I could remember which thread talked about how to do this.

Yes Tsavah, you are right, I have used the vinyl before and it can be quite tricky.

This is my work van and my friend printed the vinyl for this and we (both of us and our wives) put it on, took all day to do the 2 sides

I have just done a test run cutting out and putting together a mini F22

MY GOD … its very flimsy has anyone made and flown this one made from 3 mm Depron?? It feels almost like it is TOO weak.

How much extra weight do you recon it would add to make it from 6 mm Depron?

Trust me, 3mm is just fine, except make the fuselage top and bottom parts from 6mm. Once it's all glued together it's pretty strong.

Yes done that Pat,, maybe should have made the bottom of 6mm too, it feels rather weak

BUT I will take your word for it mate, I guess you have made and flown these before

Yeah, only 25 or so.

I know it feels weak, but trust me that it's not. I plop them down on the ground all the time with no adverse affects.

I would do some 3mm some 6mm for strength. I built one from all 6mm and it still weighs a gram or two from nothing.

if you still scared, then just use fiberglass tape. 6MM will increase you weight.

Hi Guys, I wonder if anyone can help

I have a Spectrum DX7 and have never (till now) used it with “Delta” settings (aileron/elevator) no matter what I do I can’t make the Ailerons or elevators work properly

When I move the elevator, the ailerons work and when I move the aileron stick the elevators work … is there a setting that I am missing??

I tried it on 3 different RX's and I tried changing the leads round on the RX

I built mine out of 3mm depron and have more flights on her than I can count! She looks a little battle worn by now, but flies as good as the day she first flew. Marty

Pat, haven’t been able to get my pal to print the vinyl for me yet, so I have made up a mini f22 and covered it with some spare vinyl I had left from the van. It weighed in at 6.3 oz before the vinyl and is now 7.1oz with the vinyl on it … do you think this is a bit heavy??
