Best/longest overhead shot starts at 1:45. Can see it banks up
at least to a 45 degree angle while in the current, and then full on 90 degree
bank in the still water to make a 180 and carry its momentum back
back into the stream. Wish the overhead view had stuck with it for another cycle
from the other side. Word is this whale did this for months before it finally took off.

I'm an FPV pilot, and he posted a really good FPV compilation video, (worth a watch in its own right)
Best FPV moments of 2014 (10 min 54 sec)

which contains a short segment with the whale which immediately looked like DSing to me.
I posted a comment on the vid asking if it had any more footage of it, and he referred me to that link.
Do wish he'd stuck with it longer, but it might have been pretty hard to see through the live video feed.

Wow. So when you doink it, high on a rocky crag, do you hike up to get it, or just leave it?

(Actually, Ian, I'm sure you've never done that.)

Nice one Ian. That whale was very cool , sure like to see more of that. Fluid DS for sure. He was just having fun , going from the almost still eddy and shooting through the current.
And I did like to crashes at the end some long walks there or maybe a rescue with another quad.??

No, never..
Hike for it you can. Had HD footage from the first crash, so must have recovered that one.
Only SD footage from the 2nd, so either didn't recover, or the HD camera was broken
or ejected its card during the crash.
