Twisted Hobbys 32" MXS-C...more backyard insanity is here!

Hello again my Twisted brethren!

It's that time again. It's been a while since we have had another plane in the same vein as the ubiquitous Crack Yak. We've upped the sophistication with indoor monsters like the Crack Yak Lite and Crack Laser, and brought things to an easy and precise pace with the SuperLite Crack Yak and Su-29. We've dominated gardens and backyard bush flying with the Crack Turbo Beaver, and gone to even greater lengths with a few larger models.

But we know that lots of you fly outdoors exclusively, and crave the high energy and durability of the standard models. So we've got a new model for you!

Presenting the new MXS-C. Built in standard thickness foam, the MXS-C is the backyard XA monster you have been waiting for. Insanely stiff, this thing will hold up to the sick power of the 26 gram motor with a 9x4.7 prop on 2S, or to go absolutely nuts, you can swap to a 8x4DD prop and 3S and enjoy power that borders on irresponsible. Firewall the throttle and this freak stays rock solid!

The aerodynamics are fresh and unique as well. Built on the same formula that delivered the Crack Yak and Crack Laser, the MXS-C is the result of many prototypes and lots of experimentation. The elevator placement and size, fuselage shape, ailerons, and rudder have been optimized to deliver simply insane authority. Harder pitch changes, pinpoint spins, tumbles, and lightning fast snap rolls are all right at your finger tips alongside high speed racing turns and surprisingly precise tracking as well. This plane knife edge spins better than many wood airplanes! Of course, pull the throttle back and the plane settles right in, delivering gentle and precise harriers for learning.

Even though we have returned to our roots, we refuse to rest on our laurels! Through careful engineering, we have managed to place the servos in the tail. Short, tight, and precise linkages deliver awesome control response with no pushrod guides necessary. Of course, RCFactory's legendary quality and ease of construction are here to ensure your model comes out perfect. This is the easiest plane to build yet!

Also, this is the first standard model to include landing gear! Built similarly to the Lite series landing gear, it's strong, very light, and easy to install.

Set up and build tips

We offer two power combos for the MXS-C. The analog power combo is great for learning and 3D flying. But for extreme performance, the digital power combo is the way to go...it includes all digital servos, and the punchy 2206 motor. The absolute best power you can get is with a 3S 450 battery and a 8x4DD prop.

Cut the elevator bevel a bit deeper for extreme elevator throw. Use a straight edge and a sharp X-acto blade to carefully remove some material from the edges of the bevel.



For best geometry, install the adjustable links in the following positions on the servo arms.

Rudder arm:



Elevator arm:



If you are using the T-Pro servos, you can glue the double arms to the single arms to achieve the proper length. Wrap them with thread after you have glued them (not shown here).




Install the horns flush with the first surface of the foam...do not push them to full depth. This will give you the best leverage and throw. Flex the elevator full down while the glue for the elevator horn is still wet; this will ensure that the horn does not hit the fuselage.



Choose what side you will install the receiver on, and for that side, cut the tail brace truss short by 5". This will allow for good clearance on the wires. Glue this piece on the nose of the plane to stiffen the front:




Apply Blenderm tape to the hinge ends and around the motor mount legs to prevent them from tearing in crashes. This is very important. You will need to put down some welder before the tape will stick.




Once you are satisfied with your CG, cut a slot for your battery. This will help with lateral CG and make the plane fly a lot more true.

Big improvement on all fronts. ..my only two complaints on the Crack Yak have both been addressed by this plane:

bending pushrods and lack of included landing gear

This looks fantastic. I intend to get even more life out of the ex-Jimbo CY (for which I have slightly bent the motor shaft - sorry for being a careless owner Jim ) but when it dies, this will be the replacement. Like the CTB, I may buy ahead of time and store it ready to build.

John, you didn't? Oh well, never mind, hope you enjoyed it while it lasted!
I recently piled in my 39 inch sbach, unfortunately not even my custom heavy duty front end could save it from my dumb thumbs lol.
Once this comes over the pond, it's ordered!
