Question
Bixler ARF with Parkzone ME109 esc

My brother is looking to try out this hobby and is thinking of the HK Bixler
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...laps_ARF_.html

and we are thinking of putting the ESC and receiver from my old PZ ME109 (bought it from a guy for parts for $25).

Does anyone see any issues or problems with this? I don't know what the ESC is bacause the guy put electrical tape around the ESC and when I try to take it off the label comes off as well. I don't know the electronics side of this hobby very well so any input is greatly appreciated

Thanks.

If the ESC is stock then it's a 30amp.

The link you posted up from Hobby King isn't working so I'm going to guess that you're purchasing the ARF version which means that you're going to have to supply the motor too. Without knowing what motor you're going to place in the plane we can't really tell you if the ESC is going to work or not.

It says the motor is included and that they recommend a 20A ESC

Should be fine then as long as you use the recommended prop size.

Most of us use a larger than spec'd ESC, it's good practice though you give up some weight. Not a big deal in this case.

Also make sure it's a brushless ESC

It's brushless if it came out of the PZ 109.
