Revell or Midwest plywood?

I'm looking for some 1/8" plywood and I can get Revell birch plywood and Midwest craft plywood for about the same cost.

Any ideas on which one is better, or the differences between them? Thanks!

I just saw some Revell ply for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It looked fine to me. It probably came off the same say in the same factory. One stack is Midwest the other stack is Revell.

If you have a Michaels craft store near you check their wood selection. I think you can use a store coupon for a percentage off here>>>> http://weeklyad.michaels.com/coupons...ichaels-121111

Check the look of the grain and the number of plies. 1/8 aircraft birch plywood will have 7 layers. Cheaper paneling will have 3 or maybe 5.

As it happens I was in a Micheal's store just today where I bought a box of popsicle sticks and happily found the section for modeling clay (I'm all out of Pasticene for small model nose weight ). I checked out the balsa, bass and plywood and didn't stay long enough to evaluate the grades once I saw the prices. It made my Scottish side gasp in pain! ! ! !

I just checked on some 1/8" ply myself. A 12"x24"x1/8" 6-ply was a hair over $17.00 This is from Bud Nosen Models.

and 1/8 x 12 x 24 birch ply (6-ply) $10.27.http://www.nationalbalsa.com/category_s/139.htm

gsnflyt Good prices! But tell me, have you ordered from them, and if so, where the sheets "flat"? Seen to many sheets, even at my LHS that were not acceptable. Twisted, warped.

Ya have to use the 40% coupon. Good to get you out of a pinch, but not for a large order.

At one time Midwest had 2 grades of plywood, aircraft and hobby. As mentioned above the aircraft grade had 7 layers and the craft grade had 3 IIRC. They used to mark the craft grade stuff with "Not for aircraft use".

If you can use the 3 ply hobblinc sells in bulk. I picked up a bundle of 6 sheets of 1/8x12x24 for around 30 bucks. Its revelle and it is really nice at least the stuff I bought was.
