HELLO All Well I am again doing another destroyer but this time I am useing my old hamilton class cutter hull and building it into an FFG. All most the same a few changes but it will work out for me. Remove my old deck compleatly and now in the process of rebuilding a new one.. I do have plans of keeping my Hamilton deck all in one piece.
I let go of my first one many years ago since I now have my DDG that has a few years on it I finely decided to do nother FFG for an escort to run beside it . This will make number 3 for my personal fleet of Destroyers. I will post pictures soon. Don the Rustbucket.

FFG convertion

OK I know it has been a wile since I have last posted any thing on the cutter convertion. OK A buddy of mind now has the deck to the cutter that he wanted for his so he got it last week for a hull he is building and it came out very close to his hull. Just a little work and he will have my cutter deck on his new hand crafted wooden hull.

As for me I am still working on my new FFG that I am useing the old cutter on also have did a few changes as well. Did some cutting in the stearn built a new upper deck compleatly on top of the cutter hull have repainted the hull.

It has hit the pond a wile back and ran nice . May take it back out on monday for a club run?
BUT it did not have much for a deck now I am adding all of the goodys and scratch building along the way . So here are some up dates to it . Don THE Rustbucket

up date on FFG

Well I got the ship back in the water today she ran nice and handled just as good. This was one good move . SHE handles better as an FFG then she did as a cutter.
AS FOR THE CUTTER THE deck is being taken apart and going onto a new hull so it will be back in the water with my old deck or parts of it with a new hull and runing gear.
It will be neat for both ships to be side by side sometime this year. Don the rustbucket

Thanks guys both ships will be runing side by side i hope befor the summer is over. I am trying to help my buddy with the cutter when ever I get over by his shop. HE is a beginer and now I am teaching him what we all learn in the beginning.when we all started out many moons ago. FOR me all most to many ;-)
BUT we all started some place right ? I started with the Lindburg PT 109- 1.32nd scale then went to my first 4 ft scratch build carrier and never stop ok I took a couple of brakes through the 20 years I had been building . YUP we all started some place for sure. DON thanks JOE

Hi all, I have just joined this site today. I am going to build a 1/48th scale Fletcher class destroyer next, and so, this site seems an ideal site to gather information from. Here's my latest project, nearly finished now.

Hi spooksgone

Welcome to the sight. Another good site for Naval models is:

War Ship Models Underway
http://wmunderway.8m.com/home/home.htm

You may want to check it out, it is all about building war ship models.
