Again, thanks for the replies, pecor.

Yeah, I just went ahead and picked up another from the US warehouse. Shipping to HI sucks a little, but $30 total to fix my problems, not bad. By the time I paid $10 for a couple replacement elements on ebay, then waited till Christmas to receive them from China, I will have wished I just replaced it. And I like your idea about the field iron, will definitely be doing that.

Well If it makes ya feel better I went to Hakko USA . And their heating element is $20.00 from them, Mine HK is over 2 years old {knock on wood} and going strong still. And used weekly, But I do dial the heat right down after each solder joint or joints. Here's Hakko's 936 heating element http://www.hakkousa.com/detail.asp?PID=1590&Page=1. Jay

Hello,

Can someone please tell me if the power cord is attached at the back of the station or if it's removable. I can't find a picture from the back.

Thank you

So I can simply use an adapter or cut the end of the power cord then replace it with a Swiss plug.

Don't you want 220v? These do not auto switch from 110 to 220.
