Giant Foamie Home Depot Pitts S2B

The Home Depot Pitts S2B has been a great success. The following thread covers my build and development with some mis-steps along the way. The following video is the video you should watch if you only are going to look at one. I would say the biplane is now 90% tuned and gives a pretty good airshow for an airframe build cost of $15. I also have added a PDF set of plans/parts in this post.

Airshow: Giant Foamie Home Depot Pitts S2B flown by Otto Dieffenbach (6 min 25 sec)

My experiences with biplanes has not been very satisfying, dating back to an Aeromaster in 1968. I have always wanted a full size Pitts Special but figured I'd kill myself having fun. So to complete my Home Depot series and overstuff my hanger (garage) I've decided to take one more shot at a biplane, the Pitts S2B. I'm using the same approach used on my other giant foamies employing R-TECH foam from Home Depot. Total cost of the build will be around $15. The layout will have a prop slot under the front wing and in front of the lower wing. A central 5 mm ply skeleton is used for strength supporting both wings, battery, motor, skid and tail section. Like the F-15/YF-22/Spruce Goose/Sea Dart it will slide for takeoff and landing. I've drawn the design/plans and have begun assembly. Build time to this point is 7 hours. As I proceed I'll continue to upload photos of the process.

Wing incidence

Been wrestling with what angles to set the wings.... generally, most model Pitts are set lower wing 0 and top wing -1. Some articles I've read on bipes say LW 0 TW +1. My inclination (pun intended) is to go with the -1 in the TW. Will continue research, but building halted until I get an angle resolution.
