Really, that's not a bad list price for the Tx only.

Unfortunately that did little to cure its near terminal case of Ugly !

How valid do you consider your price info??
The reason I ask it there has been absolutely no announcement from Horizon on either the DX8 or the JR 11X.

Absolutely ZIP to my knowledge, so where did you come up with a valid price for Tx only?????

Ewwwww, worse than ugly! The transmitter has a robot face that is uglier than Krytens. ( Red Dwarf )

Actually, it does look a bit more like Benders face. ( Futurama )

It doesn't look that bad. The JR zero looks worse. And most cheap plastic radios don't look much if any better :P (Aurora looks ok though)

That's not to say it couldn't and shouldn't look a lot better though.

A lot of people said the DX6i was ugly. But it sure is a comfortable -- and reliable -- radio...

Yes, the 6i was all of those things.....including ugly BUT it was a low price entry.

There IS a difference ! The DX8 is NOT entry level.

Frankly the 11X is looking LOTS better when you view the DX8 and compare.
I was dead against the 11X 's appearance UNTIL I looked at this dog (DX8).

IMO If you have any pride of ownership at all you'll pass on this design (DX8) and wait for Horizon/Spektrum to fix their large and obvious error.

I'm not kidding, the 11X IS looking MUCH better to me.
Now for frame rate, resolution (2048 is given), unlimited switch assignment and the rest of the specs.

For those who laud the A9, well, a beauty it is not. It is also but 1024 and frame rate??????
Better looking than the DX8 ----- it would HAVE to be.
But then again so is some bug splat I have seen.

I may have to look over Fuitaba's designs.
FOR ME, that is just about Heresy as I switched to JR and relatives in '81.

Fortunately for me, I have a couple of systems that were purchased
BEFORE Spektrum lost their appearance judgment.
One was new in 2009.

I can wait a year.
Hopefully they'll get it right by 2011.

Then again, when you make a design decision THAT far out in the boonies------------

Two things.

1. In my book, form follows function.

2. I usually don't look at my radio while I'm at the flight line. I look at my plane.

I CERTAINLY hope FORM does not follow function here.

If that is so, my 50+ rears in RC Precision alone won't begin to support that contention.
IMO your opinion as posted is a foolish statement as we all have flown enough to know what form defines through function......and the DX8 isn't it !
At best it is but an extremely homely rehash of all the Txs which preceded it.......and preceded it with some eye pleasing designs.

As long as the radio does what it is supposed to do, I'm happy.

I think this is a perfect radio for me. I just need to find some $$$!

So... you'd rather it look pretty than perform well? That would mean that function would follow form.

Not sure if form defines function. It can be ugly as sin yet be accurate, easy to setup and have a gazillion functions... or it can be gorgeous yet not even have expo settings.

Ahhh... I love semantics.

I don't know if the reports I've heard are correct but this radio is supposedly only going to be available in Europe.
