Maple Leaf Encores-- Where ???

Hi everyone, I am new to this hobby as of this year. I don't know anything about anything...BUT...in the Jan. issue of Quiet Flyer on pg. 18, there is a photo of 2 Maple Leafs flying formation. My question is , WHERE can you buy these planes from ??? Thanks for the help. Bob in Seattle

Hi Bob,

Have you flow a glider??? If you are as new as you say then I would HIGHLY recommend that you DON'T start with a Maple Leaf Encore. This is an intermediate and experienced "contest" flyers type discus launch glider, and is not for beginners. It may look nice in a magazine BUT it doesn't mean that it is easy to fly (many beginners fall for this problem, I know I did many, many years ago).

Go to a local gliding club and talk with some of the members to guide you into gliding the best way (without crashes). They will help you get the right gear and plane for your needs and will give you guidance through your learning stages. I have full size glider pilot friend who also fly model gliders and they have all said that flying models to the real thing is totally different.

Check out this site

HI Bob,

Have a look at this site:

http://www.fatlion.com/sailplanes/sailplanes.html

This should help. Go to the hand launch section to see that there are tons of great HLG to chose from (you'll also see the Maple Leaf "Encore" there too under the contest section of the HLG's).

Later,
Glen
