Osrc

I'm sure many of you have seen the banners here at RCG for a new radio from OSRC. It's looks cool and there are all sorts of talk about it's abilities but I have yet to read of any true features. It's all talk about how powerful it is without being slightly specific. Anyone have any experience with the system?

No. There are advertisements for these radios here. I'd never heard of them before I saw the ads.

They don't use either the words "transmitter" or "receiver" on their website. What is obviously a transmitter is referred to as "the main unit" and I'm guessing that the things referred to as "controllers" are the receivers.
I find this attempt at mould-breaking terminology confusing, to the extent that I, for one, would steer clear.

Prolly because there is supposed to be telemetry built in, so the unit the pilot uses and the unit on the aircraft both transmit and recieve.

i think the new terminology is supposed to reflect the fact that they are looking at the whole system with utterly-objective convention-defying eyes

ie. its a marketing gag

the actual system may be good though ...

i did see a vid where the Tx obviously had motorised gimbals .... now that is something i don't need

also, that figure of $3,325 isn't the price - its the amount of money collected through pre-orders

The pricing is in EU money and Cyprus is kind of linked to Greece, might get real cheap soon but service might be problematic

For all we know, the mock up is probably a Turnigy 9X with custom firmware Open source in a fancy case. Everything about the radio seems vague, especially the youtube interview that has the camera stay 8 feet away from the radio.

I agree with that... it's only ever described in the most nebulous and magical terms - as though it were a unicorn or something - nothing hard or specific, no numbers, no specifics on for example just what exactly makes it "unique" etc etc

http://www.os-rc.com/ there is much info about it here. And links to an actual dealer. The main unit looks to run a bit over $650 but I don't know if that includes the touchscreen module or not. Its mouthwatering to me

I believe the $650ish price is just the bare main controller...then you need to add the touch screen (or panel with just lights) plus the module container thing in the back and the shoulders with the switches on both sides.

The touchscreen seems to be another $600.

With everything it comes out to about $1400.

Really nice looking design though.
