Frozen Finger Fun Fly - January 1st, 2016

Make plans now to attend the Frozen Finger Fun Fly at Quarry Field on New Year's day starting at noon. With the new heated clubhouse, this should be our best event ever. Now is the time to prepare your models, purchase skis, get a transmitter mitten, etc. More information will be shared once we get closer to the event and also at the next VAM club meeting to be held on Monday, December 14th at The Bar on Lynndale.

Those with Apprentice can check out Hobbytown, Galaxy or buy floats like this:

Plenty of other options out there for skis for the larger models.

Friday is coming up fast! We might even have a little snow. Currently not sure whether to add skis or not but with cooler temps and snow on Monday, right now I'm leaning towards adding the skis.. I certainly hope that is the case. Flying on snow is really a lot of fun.

As Friday approaches, I'm sure we will need someone to plow the road at Quarry.

I don't have anyone that has confirmed yet to do it but I would like remind that they please leave the plow blade up off the gravel a few inches as not to plow all the fresh gravel into the grass. Thanks.

Thanks to John for his snowplowing efforts at Quarry Field. The field is ready to go for tomorrow. Event hours are 9am to 3pm but would expect peak times to be 11 to 1pm with the grill being fired up around noon. Bring your own hot or cold drinks and something to cook on the grill. Snacks (nuts/candy) will be available for sale. Feel free to bring something to share! This is our first year with the new clubhouse and it will be heated so this should make for a much more comfortable winter flying experience.

If you haven't done so already, remember to bring your payment and completed membership renewal forms so you are ready for the 2016 flying season!

Great event today. Attendance guess would be around 30 with 15 people flying. Clubhouse was at 68 degrees when I left so it probably reached 70 in there. Great way to start the new year!
