Westland Widgeon III

I know it's a bit late in asking, but does anyone have a decent 3-view of the Westland Widgeon III that they would like to pass along. I say it's a bit late in asking as I have plans for a 36" and 54" version 75% drawn from a small 3-view that I have. I'd like to compare it to another. Also does anyone have any good photos of one; I can't seem to find anything too good on the net.

Thanks Greg, but I'm looking for the 2 seater parasol plane that was made in 1927, rather than the helicopter.

It is really hard to find 3-view of the Westland Widgeon III airplane. However, here is a photograph of one if this helps.

Excellent drawings by Alfred Granger were published in 'Wingspan' mag (UK) about 10 years ago. I can't remember if it's a Widgeon II or III. I have a copy but it's in storage about 2000km away unfortunately! Would be happy to photocopy it for you when I go to sort my stuff out in about 5 weeks.

Rich,

First: Welcome to E-zone!

If that's "do-able" that would be excellent.

Also there are some excellent plans for a 24 inch rubber freeflight Westland that were done by Kingsley Kau and available from Peck Polymers. I built it many (1974) years ago and it is very scale and very light. Blow them up to 36 inches and it would be super.

Thanks Pat,

I already have the Kingsley Kau plans, but I already have drawings of my own 3/4's done in CAD. I would just like to get a look at another 3-view and some photos.

Thanks for the help!

Ian, A Widgeon III was recently restored to flying condition in Australia. Check out FlyPast June 2003, or Air Enthusiast July/August 2003. Bob Holman sells the Dennis Bryant plan for the Widgeon.

Ian,
A friend is very obligingly searching through my books for the Widgeon drawings, so hopefully you won't have to wait too long for them...
The Widgeon must have been reasonably popular here in Australia, in addition to the restored one there are 2 wrecks in museums.
Cheers
Rich

Aussie Widgeon

I'd love to do the Coffee Royal Affair participant. They died of thirst after landing on a search for Charles Kingsford Smith. A loose tappet caused them to land. The bush was so thick they couldn't take off.
