Good slow-flyer suggestion

Several years ago when I was active in electric flight I had an (original) GWS tiger moth that was a nice, easy, walking speed slow, park flyer (that i could also loop and have some fun with if I wanted). Now that I have young kids I'd like to build another one and go have some goof off fun at the park. I also had a GWS slow-stick, but I found it's flying qualities to be far inferior to the tiger moth.

It seems that GWS now makes a pico version and a 400 version of the tiger moth, and from what I have read, they are not the super slow super easy to fly planes like the original.

Can anyone suggest a good replacement? I'm not planning to use it for training, but I do want to use it at the small park so it needs to fly well slow. Does hobby king have something?

The GWS Pico TigerMoth is still the same, if you can find one.
It can even fly slower and have more power with todays lipo batts and brushless outrunner motors.

Many of the new, ultra micro planes would fit the bill. Particularly recommend the Champ, which looks like a real plane, and the Ember 2, which is a stick-type, but with wonderful flying characteristics. Both require very light wind or indoors, but then so does the pico TM.

Have fun!

For a fun slow park flyer, consider a 3D foamy. Like from WMParkflyers, DWFoamies, or twistedhobbys. The secret for slow flying capability is low wing loading, meaning light weight for a given wing area. Somewhere is the 24 to 34 inch wingspan would fly nicely in a small ball park.

The trade-off is planes with light wing loading don't like much wind. Have fun.

+1 on Beachcomber's idea, though the brands I'm thinking of are Hacker (Zoom) Hyperion (Sniper, etc.) and RC Factory (many EPP variants.) The wing loading on the Sniper X-II is down in the 6 oz. per square foot neighborhood.

Main difference between these and the DWFoamies stuff is the foam -- EPP foam vs. Depron. EPP is lighter, more flexible, but also can be shaped into proper airfoils. Depron is stiffer, but wings made of Depron are mostly just flat plates -- well suited for indoors or calm air, less so when there's some wind blowing.

Another vote for the Hacker or Hyperion planes. The airfoiled wing makes a difference in flight characteristics, especially in a breeze. They will fly super slow without having to put them in harrier mode.

Not at all. I have one and it's put away in the shed roof.

I have an Electrifly FlyLite and like it. It's very durable.

I have an Electrifly Tiger Moth (250) and like it too. It flies great but the foam is very brittle. I've damaged a few pieces while carrying it to and from the house.

I have a Champ and like it the most. It's a little fragile but I haven't broken it while walking.

A Crack Pitts is on my list too because it can fly even slower than all 3 of the ones I listed.
